no, you read it right :D

Couple years ago few people across UK did shopping cart overhead pressing comp, a feat which requires wit (in locating a suitable cart), courage (to avoid security guards), strength (for reps), grip and odd object lifting. Results varied greatly, but it was rewarding nevertheless :D

It is much harder than you would think!

who would be up for this?

Sweet, I'd love to have a go at this. How much does the average trolley weight?

I think I'd have trouble getting hold of a trolley to practise however. All the supermarkets round here have magnetic wheels locks to stop the chavs making off with them!

No idea how much the average trolley weighs, but it would be easy to get round the magnetic wheel locks - you just lift the trolley up.

I would be up for this, but there are no supermarkets anywhere near us so it will take some time until I find one!

sounds like fun to me, I had one in my garage for a long time until finally I needed more room and I left it at the side of the road. Too bad, guess I will have to go to a parking lot somewhere and try it out

This seems like an interesting idea. I kinda tried something like this with my punching bag once.

i feel strangely, irresistably, drawn to take part in this.

we'll do this at melbourne vegan strength for sure.. hardcore iv, big wave, wanna help me steal a trolley?

range of motion question, does your head need to go into the basket to count as a full rep?

yeah, I would think head into the basket would be a good rep, otherwise it is just the top half of the motion.. so who is going to get this started and set some numbers to beat??

folks, i forgot one essential rule:

photographic evidence is required

This way if you have the balls to even try it without getting a single rep, my hat is off to you :D

The MVS massif did a few killer sets of trolley lifting on the weekend. Hannibal should be posting the pics soon. Lots of interesting technical variations.
