Here's something which will help you to put on some mass! Very handy snacks for work or school.

----------------------------
1 cup Natural peanut butter
8 tablespoons of syrup
around 1 cup of soy protein powder
1 cup of uncooked oatmeal

Sometimes i also add couple tablespoons of tahini just
for the hell of it

Mix the pb and suryp in a bowl, microwave on full for
80 secs. Add the rest and mix together. I wasn't 100%
sure of the amounts I used but the end result should
not be too dry, add suryp and/or water if the texture
is too dry.

Original recepie author says that you can add
raisins/nuts etc to taste.

Smooth into a tray and leave for 20 mins. Cut into 10
to 12 equal bars and wrap and store in fridge.
--------------------------------

Please post comments here if you have made these babies. Also if you come up with any nice variations, don't keep it as a secret!

i tried doing these but i needed to add about a cup of water to make them not dry. Finally they got to the point where they were sticky enough to put in a pan.

I also put raisins on the top and mashed them in so they didn't fall off. Pretty damn yummy. I also sprinkled some cinnamon on some of the other ones that i didn't put raisins on but i haven't tried those yet.

wicked mate, you're an artist!

true, i need to add quite a bit of water as well, depending on the peanut butter used (how much oil/fat there is), what protein powder is used and so on. I actually nowdays only put two scoops of protein powder to avoid it getting too dry.

Next time you make them, could you try to calculate the nutritional breakdown per bar?

Before I make these I just wanted to check whether it's crunchy or smooth peanut butter I should use. I'm going to use the stuff from Unicorn that you get in the big tubs. I'm looking forward to trying these out as I've been after a decent protein bar for ages.

I'm sure both are fine. Personally I use crunchy, it gives the bars a nicer texture. But often crunchy ones are dryer so you'll need more water or alternatively less soya protein and oats.

Hehee, not sure if they are decent or even tasty, but hey, they'll do their job!

Let us know how you find them mate.

I made these, they were great.. :)
I varied the recipe a little: I used natural muesli instead of quick oats (soaked it in a little water beforehand), I used stevia liquid instead of syrup, added egg replacer and flax oil to it too. And a little allspice and vanilla essence lifted the flavour quite nicely.

Great recipe, I'll be making these regularly when I'm back to school.

here's a slightly sweeter (and less protein) version of peanut buttergoodie...

Chocolate Coated Nut and Seed Wicked Stuff:

340g peanut butter (with sugar, oil and salt)
1dl syrup
1/2dl of sugar
1dl hazelnuts (grounded)
handful of sunflower seeds
75g chocolate

mix everything together (exept chocolate) in a hot pan. pour it to, well, whatever, to make that stuff 2cm high or so. while you let it cool down a bit, melt the chocolate and then pour it on top of it. cool it (and keep it) in freezer for 30 min at least. and eat. and enjoy the sugarhigh

I made these yesterday... I don't get it, are they supposed to be so I can mold them like they were made out of clay or are they supposed to go stale and act like bars normally do?

they taste good anyhoo, thx for a good recipe 8)

sometimes i get clay, sometimes i get crispy - i eat them anyways :)

I prefer the crispier ones though, so more oats i guess is the trick.

I just wanted to join everyone else in saying a huge thank you for this recipe - these are amazing! I made them for the first time this afternoon and they're much yummier than any you can get in the shops. I make the protein version for my husband who's the fitness fanatic and I leave the protein out of the ones for me and call them energy bars (think maybe that justifies eating them!).

Brilliant job :D .

Thanks again,
Tam.

hi,

thanks for the recipe , these bars were tasty! i made them without the soy protein as i am allergic to it. whatever i used sugar beet syrup because of its extraordinary amount of iron and magnesium. furthermore i added glucose that is enriched with vitamins , so now it is a real energy bar. i will check if they work when i eat one or two before training.
