Home Sweat Home!

Image

Trying to ease in with resistance training.
Starting a 16 weeks cycle with a relatively low weight.

What I have is a bar (12.5KG, 190cm, with a pair of handsome red collars) , a pair of Ironmind Big Boy Dumbell Bar and a big piles of plates.

5 reps of about 10 sets of Side Press and Deadlift.

2008/11/23
A quick session:

Side Press 7KG 10x5
still have lots of room

DL 50KG 6x5
still have lots of room. My form is getting much better. Need to lower the bar faster to save my back
:D

Bronco brother, it is like this:

Bent press looks very dangerous to me
I just use baby weight (big boy db + pair of 1.25 + pair of 0.5) and everything is tight and in control. :)

Cheers, xzebrasx :D

Good luck with your training, valentine!! :D

Glad to see that you are using the second version of this side press. 8) The other one looks like it's designed to keep the chiropracter busy!!!

sounds good MBV! Those red collars surely fire you up and cause you to lift more...

Thanks bros!
I learnt the hardway (rotator cuff injuries) to play safe! Bent Press looks like a shoulder killer!

24/11

Kung Fu class

Practise on form and combat skills in the true Hung Gar fashion.

Did some push up and assisted pistol and few reps of top position hold and negative chin up. Wish i have access to chin up bar :-(

Coming next: wednesday kung fu class and thursday bear workout

26/11

Kung Fu class

Same deal...Practise on form and combat skills in the true Hung Gar fashion.

And we did some "game face" drill. Basically you practise using your facial expression, especially your eyes to make people think you are going to fucking kill them.

My streetwise training partner said sifu made him feel like there is a lump in his throat. LOL

Did some push up and assisted pistol and few reps of negative chin up

29/11

Sidepress
8.5KG 10x5

DL
1x5 with a unknown weight (45? 50?)
9x5 with 60KG
I was going to do it with 50KG but I mis-load the bar.
Will do 55KG next week.

Still have doubt about sidepress.
might need to get the Pavel's video

02/12

Mangomagic was mimicking my sidepress. LOL-ed together for 4mins.

Really focus on tensing the core today.

Sidepress:
9.5KG (30secs break) 3x5
9.5KG (60secs break) 3x5

I over-estimated myself. I DO need 60secs break for sidepress.

OK, next week same weight, 60secs break, focus on form!

Deadlift
62.5KG (60secs break) 4x5
62.5KG (90secs break) 3x5

Grips were kinda loose and hamstrings felt weak.
It was ONLY 62.5KG.
My body is kinda giving out during 4th set. so I increase my break to 90secs.
Mangomagic was very worried about my puffing and sweating.

Still have some reps in me, so I did:

Bicep DB Curls 8.5 3x5

the 10x5 work out looks more like a 5x5 now :(
Will use the same weight next workout.

Kung Fu.
Did a strict BW chin up x 3! not much grinding involved.
Grappling.

05/12

Really really really hot day.

Sidepress 9.5KG (60secs break) 10x5
will up it too 10.5KG next session.

Deadlift 55KG (90secs break) 10x5
took 3 steps back cos my crazy heart beat and breathlessness worried me last week.
will up it too 57.5KG next session.

Bicep DB Curls 8.5KG each hand 5x5
2 more sets than less time!
9.5KG next week?

Grading next Friday night, kinda worry about it.

thank you Eric! but I am still a week dude. :?
The good thing is I didn't really work on my chin up.
only a a few odd reps of negative.
If only I have a chin up bar at home.

I'm doing Biceps Curls for the sack of look. but at least it is not 3x12

I am thinking maybe I should do curl grip bent over row instead as it is more functional.
