I just noticed them, how long have they been there?

Suggestion - wouldn't it be better for the link to open in a new window or tab so that people can stay in VF as well? As it is it opens in the same tab.

no, it would be better to just get rid of them.

I had to disable adblock to check them out.... barely noticeable. Which is a good thing for people that want to ignore them, but I wonder how much revenue they will raise?

if they a) piss of folk and/or b) dont generate fuck all revenue then we can take them out as well :D

Nothing is cast in stone, its just a trial.

personally i dont notice them, but then again, they might not be generating any revenue to make it worthwhile anyway.

And it pisses me off having some vegetarian links or some random stuff.

The links are very un-intrusive, so I don't see why anyone thinks they have a reason to complain. :|

I would never noticed if there was no topic about them :P

edit: Did some random "open in new tab" clicking, it's not a big deal so far....

I think they're trying to tell me something.

Judging from the prevalence of "lose weight/get fit quick without having to do anything that involves hard work and discipline" they have me down to a T.

Oh, and the Hoodia diet pills are good as well. Hoodia species are only at risk of being endangered by trade rather than being endangered already, according to CITES, so it's probably OK.

The ads are noticeable, but not intrusive IMO. If VF needs the money to keep afloat, it's a small price to pay.

hey if there are some shitty ones, please post a link of that companys/sites url here or PM it to me, and i can but a block on it.

I mean, ok some colon cleansing products are blah blah, but if it is clearly some animal product/environmentally shitty then yeah.

And if this starts pissing folk off it can still be turned off.

It looks like the income from those small ads are about 3 dollars/day, its a mixture of page impressions & clickthroughs which build the income (clickthroughs being more important of course).

Of course we could make ten times more money with bigger ads and graphical ads/banners, but then it would get all silly.
