"Jissen Kobudo Jinenkan".

The Jinenkan was founded by Fumio Manaka (martial name "Unsui") in 1996. The purpose of the organization is to allow students to study the martial arts of old Japan freely and unhindered under his guidance. Unsui has over 40 years of experience in the Japanese arts of Kobudo (old martial ways).

The Jinenkan offers instruction in Taijutsu (unarmed fighting skills), Bikenjutsu (sword arts), Yari (spear), Naginata (halberd), Tessen (iron fan), Jutte (truncheon), Kusari-fundo (weighted chain), Tantojutsu (knife), Bo, Hanbo, Jo (staff arts), and more.

Q: What does "Jinenkan" mean?

A: Literally translated it means "Hall of Nature" and represents Sensei's feeling of his martial arts being like the natural flow of the elements...Just as the wind can pass around any obstacle and leave no trace, or alternately can destroy anything in its path.

Q: What does "Unsui" mean?

A: Literally it translates as "clouds-water." It is the name used by monks in some sects of Buddhism who do not live in the temple, but rather go out into the world to gain experience and search for enlightenment.

I stopped training at this school a year ago due to travelling, but hope to start again this week.

This school is the only place on the African Continent at the moment, to represent the "Systema" form of close quarter combat, which until 1993 was kept secret and was only available to selected personnel of the KGB and GRU.
