vegan trainers

Postby Rochellita » Fri Aug 12, 2005 1:04 pm

How about we use this thread to list any information we find out about leather-free vegan trainers.

It may require contacting various trainer companies to get more info on their policies as well as lists of vegan trainers.

So if anyone writes a company and gets a positive or negative reply, post it here.

This is my response from Mizuno

Hi Rochelle!

Thank you for contacting Mizuno USA. We only use synthetic materials in
the uppers of our entire line of running shoes. Feel free to respond if
you have any further questions.

Best regards,

I asked about the glues in the same question but they didn't respond to that, will ask in my next email. At least we know that ALL of their running shoes are leather-free.

my current vegan vans are almost ready for retirement after about 18months hard use. vans do a range of skate shoes which are prominently advertised as vegan-friendly (the only big co to do this to my knowledge)
check out all the vans models with rowley in their name. designed to be hard wearing and worn/endorsed by a vegan pro.
the shops i tried in the high street only do casual vans which are not vegan but skate shops should have them.

also this page is a good guide (though check accuracy of info when buying)

The Blackspots are great, but if you need anything for athletic use I don't recommend them. A bit on the heavy side for the sole (which is totally flat) and they're not really designed for running. Casual wear they're excellent, but athletics, you can do much better!

thank you so much for writing mizuno. i'm looking for nonvegan runners for the first time purposefully (i'm a new vegan). i tried on quite a few at the store and the mizunos fit me the best. i was just about to email the company but i'm glad i stopped over here first! :)

I have just been in touch with Brooks. Almost all their shoes are vegan, the only ones that are not and advertised as Leather, all their glues are vegan.

In terms of casual, not sports trainers, I've got some red No Sweat baseball boots (http://www.ethicalwares.com/snea.htm) which I bought from The Basement Vegan Social Centre in Manchester, Uk , but i also love my Vans!

Here's the short but sweet reply i got from them!

Yes. All of Geoff Rowley's shoes are all vegan.

Thanks for taking the time to write to Vans!

As moovert said that site www.veganskateshoes.com (especially the old vss.com link on it) is a good starting point for companies to contact
(try adio /etnies/emerica...)

And once you know what you're looking for: and if you're in the UK, there are a few mail order companies that have special offers on several vegan skate shoes - try:

www.kateskates.co.uk - label there vegan sneakers

(http://www.kateskates.co.uk/shop.asp?St ... 1244135720)

http://www.hardcloud.com - cheap dealS
While trying to reduce the size of the image of Jonathans's ass in the phwoar thread:

tennis shoes

Postby aspara-gus » Thu Mar 02, 2006 10:10 am

I spend over 8 hours per day on the tennis courts and need to find strong vegan tennis shoes. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance,

Hi

I play badminton once a week and could do with some proper trainers to play in. I wrote to New Balance (their trainers seem to be mostly running shoes and also start at a size 5 for women but my feet are a size 3 or 4) a few weeks ago but never got any replies. If anyone has any good ideas or other companies I could try I'd be really grateful to hear from you.

Thanks
Loz (:-)

I have only met one girl with a size 4 shoe, that is rare. That must make things difficult for finding shoes, then when you remove non vegan shoes from the equation, wow.
Thankyou and good day
