I'm a bit late in getting these up, but I figured that I may as well post 'em now rather than forget about them any longer! I only have a few to start with (2 of myself, one of my friend John, and a video of the 340 lb. total farmer's walk for time) so for those that wanted to see a bit of what happened, click the links below for the scoop. I'll get more links up later, but these are as good of a place as any to start!

Okay, the best part of the pictures was your huge smile in the first one. Looks like it was a blast! :D

I think I'm half smiling and half straining from throwing the rock, which makes for an odd appearance. Still, better than the usual where I'm told I look like the unfriendliest guy in the gym when I'm lifting (apparently concentration on the task at hand keeps me from looking too happy when I'm there!)

I wish there were more people who had fun like this in Milwaukee, but I figure if there needs to be a trend I should be the guy to get it started. With the gathering of a few more implements and better record keeping I'll try and eventually recruit more people in next summer once we get everything running smoothly.

JP - Unfortunately, my friend isn't vegan, but I work at it. To his credit, he does have respect for those that are, and he is willing to try anything rather than be like most people who are terrified of vegan foods. He's the guy who got me into lifting some years ago, and for a person who has suffered countless injuries and been told he'd never bench/squat/overhead press again because of them he's done an incredible job of overcoming some pretty rough situations. He's a fine example of what lifting can do for adding size to one's body - I still remember growing up and I was always twice as large as he was, but once he hit high school and started lifting regularly he managed to go from 140 lbs. to 180 lbs. in a few years, a drastic improvement for someone always plagued with a small frame. Good stuff!

Hey Ryan - looks like it was brilliant! And you certainly don't fit into the "skinny vegan" stereotype. That farmers walk looked like it hurt!

Mary,

Yes, weighing in at a new high of 252, I don't suppose I fit the "skinny vegan" profile all that much. It definitely is fun to shatter the myth!

The day was a lot of fun for sure. The most pain I experienced was when I got whacked in the calf on the farmer's walk with one of the 170 lb. handles - I took off too quickly before the weight caught up to me and got a good lesson in timing. Next week we're upping the weight to 185 or 195, so I'd best remember what happened last week before we get going on this one.

I'll have pictures to post again for the next event, so look for details around a week from now!
