Well, reading through this thread has helped a little, but I'm still stuffed.
I have a big problem - namely weight. I just started bodybuilding with any kind of regularity so hopefully that will help in a few months, but I need help!
The heaviest I've ever been in my life is 46.5kg. I'm now down to 43kg, for heaven's sake (and I'm twenty years old - urgh). The trainer said I had to put on at least some body fat and I said I know, I'm trying to, but I can't. I don't understand it - I eat well, I eat as much carbs and protein substitutes as I can, and I'm still skin and bone. At present, I'm pretty sure my weight is too low for Army enlistment.
For all you folks who have a clue what you're doing, how would you put on a lot of weight, very fast? I try to eat as much as I can, but yeah obviously I'm very little and there's only so much room in there. What are the most fattening foods for a vegan? How much of these do you have to eat say in the space of a day to make any difference?
I'm after all that kind of info, if anyone knows. Just general advice you'd give someone who is trying to build themselves up and fast!

How often do you eat? Have you tried eating six times a day, stuffing yourself full each time? That should work for gaining weight for most people I think. Also eat reasonably calory dense food, if you eat only fruits and vegs it might be hard to gain.

Yeah, I agree with Bronco, eat at least six times a day, and get min couple of hundred calories each time, then up that as you start to gain. One really important thing I learnt from this board was to be aware of fat and fat content of foods but not to be scared of it!

Now we're talking! Powerlifter belly is on it's way. Excellent work lounging around and eating all day. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it!

I actually picked eating over going to the gym yesterday. I had a burrito about the size of my forearm! It was filled with rice, black beans, salsa, lettuce and guacamole. I knew that wasn't going to be enough though, so I got corn chips and guacamole on the side, washed it all down with about 1.5 liters of coke products. I would estimate at least 2000+ calories for lunch!

Oh, I could have sworn it would be physically impossible to make a burrito that big .

i have to say that i am flying with the bulking - 107.1kg (235.7lb) tonight :D

that is a weight gain of 1.4kg in 10days, and a total weight gain of 3kg in two and a half weeks. hoping to reach 109kg by the end of the year. i finish my strength building routine in about 5weeks, by which time i hope to be 110kg. then im going to do some hidious bodybuilding type routine (HIT or HST or something) to slap on some muscle, and after 8weeks of that (provided i dont get a high calorie burning job) i hope to make 113kg.

Big me here i come

In a quest to move away from over consumption of cashews I have tested and tried a new recipe for post workout/post meal/post waking up snack, consisting of approx 50g almonds and 50g sunflower seeds (although I guess it could be done with any nut or seed). Simply put them in a blender, blend until blended (or almost if you like crunchy bits) then put in a bowl and mix with maple syrup and a wee bit of water (I use hot water, but cold could be substituted). It is approx 600 calories and 22g protein, and is surprisingly tasty! I never make anything unusual and this is about as adventurous as i get! Get it down ye :)

not been too good with the eating for the last couple of days.

i have been staying with family for about a week now, and been seeing friends and such. its really stupid but i dont really like eating at other peoples houses (unless they are vegans!) as i feel awkward asking for the quantities of food that i eat.

sometimes when i am stressed the retching thing gets worse, and its been pretty nasty for the last couple of days. today was the first day where i actually threw up after a retch. it wasnt fun, and i tried to suppress the damn thing, but not this time. i had just had a gigantic smoothie, and i didnt bring much up, but its still a bit distressing.

i wish i knew what it was rather than being in the dark. i have an appointment with a specialist in edinburgh inpending so hopefully that might lead to an answer. until then i will just have to do my best to work around it! there will be no stopping me getting fatter!!
