How long do you typically bulk? Then how long do you cut?

I've been eating a ton of food lately, though I try to not eat more than energy expenditure and muscle-building. I'm getting bigger, but I don't think I can or should do this forever.

thanks,
Jemmy

I've really just set out on the road to getting huge. :D

I have put on about 40 pounds this year and am up to 242 currently. I plan to finish out the year bulking up to 250-255 and then spending however many months it takes in 2006 to cut the excess fat.

How long you bulk really depends on your goals. Powerlifter looking for size and strength are on a permanent bulking plan. Natural bodybuilders tend to keep a fairly low bodyfat even while bulking, taking things very slow. It's all about what works for you.

Bulking time for me again. Weight is down to 87ish, and am about 3kg's lighter than a couple of months ago. Strength is the same though, and I'm pretty sure it's all/mostly fat i've lost. Will now try and cram in the calories any way possible. Have switched from porridge to flakes in the morning as i can get more down this way, and will try and add another meal/snack in during the afternoon probably, or last thing at night. Had a coconut smoothie consisting of coconut milk, cinnamon, ginger, hemp protein, nut milk, and water, and i was toiling to get it down. It's funny looking back, but at the time i just felt so sick, and retched really badly towards the end, not managing the last 150ml which is still in my fridge. It was like in the simpsons when homer is trying to finish a massive baguette, which is so old it has become mouldy and is making him sick :D Don't know why it was so nasty, but could have been lack of something sweet, like maple syrup, but coconut milk sometimes does this to me. Could be an allergy I guess?! Am getting a case of coconut blocks next week, as they seem to go down better, and are a wee bit cheaper too. Anyway, 94kg by the end of feb is my goal.

Anyone else for bulking at the mo?

I have been bulking for a while, the last 6 weeks or so. I am up to 217 lb as of this morning from 205 lb when I started. I definately have some more fat on my belly, not lots, but it still bugs me  I have only been lifting weights twice a week the last few weeks, and training JKD 3 hours a week, and getting lots of rest. I have gained mass in my lats, chest, shoulders and arms, and a bit in the legs as well. I can tell as my thighs are getting bigger, though I don't know why. My legs are getting used in the heavy push presses, aside from that supporting and drive work, just MA training.

then you better find yourself a US based Builder Bar dealer soon. I have a few now (you know who you are 8)), and I wouldn't survive without their services.

I run a veg food buying club in Salt Lake City, Utah (http://slc.foodclub.org/). The price for a box of 12 of builder bars is $20.02, and I can ship them anywhere in the world (I charge exact cost of shipping + $3.00 handling fee). I'll be checking them out, as I'm trying to bulk up too.

What's the secret to eating so much? I just get really tired if I eat until I'm really full. Is eating spoonfulls of peanut butter useful/good? That's what I'm doing now. :)

Is all creatine vegan? Or some? What US brands are vegan/good? Isn't weight gain by creatine just water retention, or is it muscle building, or what?
Only in an overcrowded world can one be truly alone.

Ewaters - builder bar shipping sounds good. Do you know the cost of delivery to the UK? You might have a few takers I suspect.

As for bulking, I get tired too when I over-eat, and generally just try and relax/sleep more. I think it is natural as your body is working harder to deal with the excess calories. At the moment I'm eating approx every hour and a half or so, which works fine for me, but I do feel super-full at times.

I have been bulking for a while, up from 205 lb maybe 6 weeks ago to around 218 lb now. I do have more fat on my belly than I used to, but nothing I couldn't lose in a week or so. Since I have started gaining weight my strength keeps going up, I add reps or weight every workout. I will probably continue to bulk until I can't stand it anymore, or until springtime, whichever comes first :P

I eat at a local Vietnamese restaurant every Sunday, we get takeout food, have for a couple of years. I have now worked my way up to eating 3 entrees, and usually a soup or appetizer!! It takes me a few hours to get through it though, but man o man, is it gooood!

you will all be proud of me :D

yesterday afternoon i had the hardest days eating that i have had for at least 5years. i sat on my ass for over three hours, not moving and ate chilli, lots of artisan bread, lots of olives and jalapeno peppers, about 8 soya burgers (that you can strangely buy from aldi in some places in germany!), 4 bowls of pasta and tofu type salad, a bowl of potato salad, a small amount of cake, some wine and fruit juice, 3 apples, 3 satsumas. it was f##king delicious and i didnt even retch once which is fantastic. the best thing was that the company consisted of about 12 other vegans and a lovely dog that kept licking my legs!!

then when i got home after the flight (i hadnt eaten anything in about 4hours as i was so so full) i weighed myself and i came in at 105.9kg!!! the heaviest i have ever been and it means that i have gained 1.5kg over the course of the week :D i have two more weeks until i go back to derby an stay with my family for a few weeks. ill maintain that weight til then, and then gain another 2-3kg over christmas. the 6pack will be vanquished!!!!!

Pure Creatine Monohydrate with nothing else added should always be vegan. If in doubt, check with your local health food store, most carry vegan brands. Or, you can mail order from veganessentials.com Or, GNC pure creatine monohydrate is vegan, labeled vegetarian, and very cheap!

Creatine isn't just water retention, the water is sucked in to your muscle cells. It volumizes them, increases endurance and strength, and decreases recovery time. It allows you to lift heavier weights faster and more often, which results in real muscle growth and strength gains.

I'm only 1/2 a kilo ahead of you. I put a kilo back on this week, since last week's 3 kilo loss. You'll have a proper belly very soon at this rate. :P
