During which decade was the best music produced?

Oh, this is so hard I can barely answer myself. I do think the best music was probably produced between 1968 and 1978 but that's not really a decade unfortunately . Ah well, Ill vote for the 70s then.

Actually, my all time fave albums were recorded between 1980-199(0-9). But since this option doesn't exist I voted for the 80's, mostly because of Guns N' Roses' "Appetite for Destruction". I'm also fond of lots of hardcore/punk music written in those years.

I have the same trouble since I would probably go with 78-82. Not a decade and not even 10 years.
But I voted the 70's becuase in my opinion that decade didn't end until '82. Much like how the Eighties didn't die before maybe '93 or so.

1967 was a great year for music. Doors, Beatle's Sgt Peppers, that amazing album by King Crimson. the Early Pink Floyd... but I voted 80's. I think the "80's" ended in about 86 or 87 though.

Best music for listening to I suppose, but feel free to interpret it in other ways. And yes, I believe good music is time related in the sense that different periods produce different styles of music, and different people like different styles.

Still on my hols, and I've none of my tapes with me . Very rare for me to go through the day without my daily fix of hardcore, so goin two and a half weeks without any is a bit of a traumatic ordeal with me.

Wonder of wonders though, managed to pick up 'Happiness V Darkness: Further Adventures in Jungle Tekno' and 'History of Drum & Bass: Formation Records Vol 1 & 2' for some classic 91-94 biznizz. Amazin what you can find on Bangkok market stalls for not much more than a quid if you rummage for long enuff. My mate has buggered off into Laos though with the CD player so no soundz for me yet again. They play some crazy stuff on Thai buses though. Dunno how to begin to describe it......

On the River Kwai tonight. Off tomorrow to pay my respects to those who died in apalling conditions so far away from home. May they RIP.

Black Sabbath, Deep purple, AC/DC, Motörhead, Stooges, MC5, Ramones, new york dolls, Johhny Thunders and the heartbreakers, Alice Cooper, Radio Birdman, November and so on.

I think Sabbath had already done their best stuff before the 70's. Paranoid came out in 68 or 69.

I chose the 80's mostly because that's when I was really in to music. Some of my favorites are Slayer, Slayer, Slayer, Suicidal Tendencies, Agnostic Front, Sick of it All, Killing Time, Misfits, Youth of Today, Minor Threat.

In my old age though, I have developed an appreciation for 70's rock and 70's and 80's pop. Lynard Skynard, Bob Segar, ZZ Top, AC/DC, James Taylor, Prince and Jonathan's favorite R.E.M. as well as many others.

I also voted for the 70s but my reason to do so was quite different from bronco's:
Pere Ubu, Suicide, Buzzcocks, Public Image Ltd, Slits, Gang of Four, Joy Division, Talking Heads, Undertones, Kraftwerk, Raincoats, Faust, Kleenex, Neu!, Wire, Cabaret Voltaire, Devo, Roxy Music, Brian Eno, Au Pairs and so on!

This was a hard one. I voted for 70s, because as a little wee Billy I was a massive ABBA fan, and I still like their stuff - and I still like Blondie too Other than that, I've gone through so many different genres of music, from sick pop, to metal, to punk, and on to techno, drum n bass, acid house - anything you can dance to (I'm sure I absolutely love loads of your stuff Tarz! ), so for that I should really have voted 90s, as that was when I went thru my biggest dance/club/rave phase. Still really like it, but not drinking/smoking anymore and not liking to be in those surroundings has put a stop to me going out.
