comp qualification standards uk

Postby buzz » Tue Jul 12, 2005 3:21 pm

Hi all,

Can anyone point me to a website where the qualification standards can be found for raw lifting comps in the UK?

This, of course, is not for me but purely out of interest :)

Thanks,
Buzz

for BWLA they are:
http://jamesj74.users.btopenworld.com/b ... totals.htm

For under 100kg guy like i am most of the time its mere 570kg :D So perhaps two years away...

For spaceorama it would be 225kg - which is probably within reach?

Gotta start practicing the paused benches!

Thanks for that JP. Stace is 59kgs so would be 210kg for her, which probably isn't too far off, maybe just a couple of months. I guess Kathryn is pretty much there too, and Fruitbat must be close as well?

yeah all three are pretty damn close. Of course the competition standards based lifts will shave a wee bit off the totals, perhaps only on bench, depending on the depth of the squat and style of the deadlift. But nothing dramatic anyway.

And that they are all done in row does affect some peoples lifting - unfortunately i'm one of them :D

But definitely within reach and realistic and short reach as well!!!

But hey: those are the qualifying totals to enter NATIONALS, meaning that you have to do a total of at least that amount in a local qualifying competition - local comps are a different matter and one should be able to enter to them with lower totals as well.

Yeah, i was thinking that earlier. You're doing 3 close to max/max reps for each lift! Punishing no doubt.

try it sometimes mate, its good fun :D Some people are fine with it and they don't feel much at all, some can't cope with it - my problem is my left forearm which gets sore from squats and then all other lifts go down the drain - would be better for me if the lifts were other way around squats last!

This is soooo exciting!

There are a few people who will do really well in the future, with powerlifting meet. + it's good to support the raw comps i think

I am entering a local deadlift meet. Which i am going to enter raw. I looked at the numbers and if i can lift 210kg i can win it!
Gotta get myself a vegan T-shirt. Badly!

The first time i heard of the term raw in conjunction with P'lifting. I thought - great they all eat raw food that's just amazing

Excellent! When and where is the deadlift meet??

You're not just talking about a 'local meet' at my place are you? If so, then you're right, you would win it, and you wouldn't have to lift 210kg :D
