I don't like water with meals. It doesn't seem complement the taste of the food like a nice fine wine does.

So all those who said 'water' after I said 'no' to water, thanks for the suggestion, but... 'no'!

How acidic is grape juice? I suppose that could be a good alternative to wine.

I might just consider a pint of warm soup broth instead.

Yes, but have you considered water?

Funny that this is such a well responded to thread comparatively...

Well, maybe you should try various types of water! I like a half-cup or so with meals -- usually is filtered but what about mineral water ("still" or "sparkling"/carbonated)? Soda water? I also have unsweetened soy milk with breakfast and din.

There is only one type of water, that's H2O. I don't drink fizzy drinks

[quote="Herbsman"]Tea and coffee are out as I'm off caffeine for a bit and they contain compounds that hinder vitamin absorption

Plain water = no. Just no.

Orange juice = too sweet, and also too acidic - teeth worries

Suggestions?

- Maybe decaf tea without any tannins (brands like Madura etc.) you can prepare Ice-Tea

- Chia fresca (water, chia seeds, lemon juice, sweetener)

- Kombucha

- Coconut water

- Cherry juice diluted with water

etc.

What to drink with meals

Postby xrodolfox » Mon Jun 11, 2012 8:38 am

Water FTW.

If you "don't like how water doesn't compliment the flavor of your meals", perhaps it is your meals that need changing.

I drink water with every meal, every day, because water tastes awesome and beats all other drinks in every category, but especially on awesomeness.
"The worker has the right to leave his boss, but can she do it? And if she does quit him, is it in order to lead a free life; where she will have no master but herself? No, she leaves to sell herself to another employer. She's driven by the same hunger. Thus the worker's liberty is only a theoretical freedom, lacking any means of realization; an utter falsehood."

I don't think you can change your username yourself but I'm sure if you message one of the mods they'll be quite happy to change it to Herbswoman for you.

Since when was being a woman an insult or in anyway related to appreciating wine? Enjoying a fine red wine should be a universal, unless your are a sXe in which case you will have to enjoy a mint tea maybe?
I am with Herbsman on this one, wine for the win.

Yay Baldy!

Agua, mint tea or kombucha for me please - though the rare drink of wine works too, particularly under the bridge, down by the railroad tracks, out of a space bag. Though not with a meal...

I wonder how long this thread will keep going & if the OP is even watching it any more?
