Suggestion please - ethical giveaway

Postby Konstantin » Fri Mar 30, 2012 11:28 am

My town is holding a small a 'Sustainable Saturday' fair each month and I'll be having a table to promote my ethical financial advice business. It would be nice to give away some food as everyone else will have stuff going on at their tables like crafts, products etc.

I was thinking a homemade flapjack but a locally-sourced theme would be good - my ingredients are from China, USA, South America etc. Any ideas?

When you say flapjakes, do you mean the oat or the pancake type.
Easy to find UK produced flour and oats, what ingredients are you struggling with?

Oats.

Just looking for something that makes it ethical and interesting rather than just vegan. There's a lot of 'ethical' folk round here don't do the veggie/vegan thing so I need to think from a different angle. I think I'll just aim to get some local fruit and fairtrade sugar/seeds.

Scottish oats or does Scotland count as a different country?
You could label it food from the local kingdom :)

Give them all a "Death Shake".

1 litre Chocolate Soya drink.
5 scoops of protein powder (doesn't really matter what kind).
1 large jar peanut butter.
1 tub of Glace ice cream (flavour to taste)
2 scoops of crushed flax.

Blend.

Drink.

Vegan cake? Easy enough to have the majority of it made with fairtrade/organic ingredients?
Although the effeminate nature of my username may suggest otherwise, my gender actually falls into the male category.

A 'local' fruit basket - Apples, pears, etc?

Kale crisps? simple but I'm always surprised that lots of folk I know have never had them. I don't know where kale comes from exactly but mines always says it's British

VEGAN CAKE IMPRESSES EVERYBODY (except raw fooders, but don't worry about their opinion)

In Devon, doesn't it have to be locally produced cider?
Or chocolate brownies, with fairtrade/organic cocoa etc?

I've brought so many vegan cakes to work, and still they seem amazed each time that it doesn't taste like over cooked red lentils...

Ah, so you shared your famous Jello cake with them then?

No worries, it's been a long time and was just a silly thing to begin with - but we still get a chuckle out of it! It happened when you visited my daughters birthday party and we told you she was having a "yellow cake" but you heard that was having a "jello cake". :D
