Technically only wine and cider type drinks could be raw, but commercial ones would be pasteurised to kill off the nasty enzymes.

thats ok then, I've found them an alternative to alcohol. Its raw with plenty of enzymes intact.

+ home made Ginger Beer using Ginger Beer Plant (this used to also be called Bees' Wine) if you feed it with some sort of raw cane / date / palm sugar.

That should work.

Not worth it though, I'd think.

Still, if you're raw and desperate ...

I don't know how to link to a specific thread on Facebook. It's at the top at the moment.

It is easy to forget that raw foodists can be nice people whose company you otherwise would enjoy. I agree with your viewpoint, but I probably wouldn't have listened to you after your first post in that thread. People don't listen to you when you start off with an insulting tone. No disrespect to you, but I thought you opened up that conversation in a harsh way.

There were a couple of Raw=Miracle Cure posts on the FB Vegan Runners group a few weeks back, but those users have moved on because of a weight of opposition. It means that vegan-curious visitors to VR will see more rational discussions now.

But there will always be forums for space cadets. Dissuading them on a largely rational board is one thing, but if you dive into a nest of 'em, it doesn't matter how fast you post, they will keep on coming in their hundreds. Never mind taking it to the Other Board, you may as well head to the epicentre and take on the brain bug that is 30BaD.

It is bad luck if a vegan-curious visitor receives the wrong experience, but how many minutes in the day can you spare to fight that fight? If the answer is even 1 then you're a braver man than I. Or more foolhardy. Would you like to know more?

Don't forget, there is always someone wrong on the internet.

I embraced raw veganism early on when I gave up animal foods and did see some weight loss from it. I enjoyed eating a majority of fruit however as time went on, these people started to bother me a great deal with their fanatical claims that grains are more destructive to your body than meat and that eating potatoes is akin to drinking bleach. I'm happy to say that I've moved on from that completely.

I eat cooked grains and potatoes as well as a high amount of fruit every day and feel wonderful. I do not associate with any raw vegans anymore.

Do you also get a significant source of lysine( legumes, quinoa, pistachios ) ?

I should have clarified that I don't eat a strictly grain and potatoe diet only. I do eat a great deal of legumes, quinoa and nuts such as pistachios and walnuts and almonds.

But don't tell the raw vegans as any type of overt fat is a no no for them. LOL

I've learned that even though someone you are talking to on the internet may never agree with you, people who are invisibly watching the conversation can be influenced by your words if you express yourself well.

If you stayed there, continued to speak the facts and do so in a friendly, polite, matter of fact way, you very likely WILL convince some people listening in that the nutrition folklore crowd is just that.

You will be doing a service to animal rights by gradually eroding away the credibility of those types.
