Raw Foodists Who Drink?

I was reading another forum.

Someone who I know to be a dyed in the wool raw foodist was posting a guide to the best vegan beers.

I've also seen raw deserts: cakes, chocolates, pies, candy etc in my local food co-op.

Raw foodists believe that uncooked foods have something vital and delicate in them that is destroyed by cooking.

Thus, they will not eat a baked potato out of concern for their health, but they will drink and eat chocolate cake?

I figure the very vast majority of raw foodists recognise it's fairly impossible to get yourself to eat perfectly healthy all the time- just like a diet is harder without a cheat day. That means at some point they will eat some not raw things which makes sense of beer or crisps. Those things are more likely to be unhealthy things people crave rather than a baked tattie

The point of going out of your way to have raw cake is a bit beyond me. If you are going to have an unhealthy treat then I figure you may as well go for whatever you want. I've never had raw cake that was particularly good so I don't see why you'd go for it. I guess somebody must really like it.

Unless raw sugar is better for you than the usual stuff? I'd guess it's not really and the difference in healthiness or a raw and non-raw cake isn't much.

I would hazard a guess that raw foodists who believe that it's ok to have beer and cake are having beer and cake because they enjoy having beer and cake.

So let's say that people on a diet sometimes like bending their own rules for a treat. And then not only that but as their treat, they choose alcohol and sweet food over a baked potato. It all sounds pretty sinister to me.

Sounds quite miserable if cheating would mean eating a baked potato, if you're going to cheat you might as well make the most of it.

Their rules, their conscience, let them eat what they want. I think most Raw fooders are either somewhat determined people or people prepared to slip now and again. It's a shame we don't have a cheating raw fooder here, surely they could answer your question better than any of us.

Depends on whether it's part of the regular raw food diet or if it's the cheating part. Regular healthy raw food diet with all the enzymes intact: eat it. Part of the cheating: cook it however you want.

As a further reference, water boils at 212 F ( or 100 C for you evil socialists )
