and i read the explanations and it is much more logical that they meant sweet fruits and not honey from bees
even the milk has other good explanations like it means actually white wine - but there is a big chance that its actually milk - i didn't read this in a vegan website or something like that
That is actually interesting. I can remember being a child, hearing that phrase and thinking what an odd combination. It makes much more sense to say "Hey, lets hike across the desert because there will be ["wine and fruit" | "milk and fruit"] waiting for us when we get there.
I think it is past time to retire the King James translation. My suspicion is that hasn't happened, in part, because modern translations wouldn't generate political outcry in many passages on many issues....and.....people just like the drama of the "thous" and "shalts".
