Hi From London

Postby kathyjoyce » Tue Jan 24, 2012 4:18 pm

Hi, I have been vegetarian for about 20 years now, and feel very healthy for not eating meat. I am considering becoming vegan but concerned that I may not get enough essential vitamins in my diet. What supplements to you recommend?

Welcome kathyjoyce, lots of information on here that should be able to help you. Do you have any specific vitamins that you are worried about?
On a good varied vegan diet all you should need to supplement is vitamin B12.

What is the deal with the link in your signature (ie are you a spambot)?

probably vitamin d too in winter months but then that's not really a Vegan problem rather a problem for everyone that doesn't live in permanent sunshine!
JS - They think it will open the door to folk like LordMuppet campaigning for a threeway?

Welcome to the forum! Hope you'll be inspired to give veganism a shot. :)

As for vitamins I agree with what's been said above. Of course you can take multivitamin pills if you're worried.
I prefer not to because I think it could make me a little less careful with what I eat, plus they can't really replace
a varied diet.

Welcome :D The day I became a vegan I stopped all of my supplements. Today I only take b12 and don't take it that often. If you eat a variety of food and stick with whole foods and eat lots of greens, veggies and fruit your should be fine.

Again welcome
