Had a really bad back twinge this morning, went to gym anyway but didn't feel great.

Essentially I was told by an orthpedic surgeon that I have some ossification (think that's the word!) of my left hip joint, i.e. extra bone browth, so the mechanics of the joint are ever so slightly thrown off as the joint is not the correct shape.
Day to day the only issue this causes is a very gentle dull ache in the joint (now I'm thinking about it I can feel it, but never really notice it otherwise); the problem for me comes when I do any type of spinal loading e.g. squats. Like you, my dodgy hip biomechanics cause my pevis to tilt & in turn this pulls on my lower spine.
On a related note my f*cked up hip also means I get pain if I squat with a really wide stance, so I keep things as norrow as I can.
To me personally the idea of having some kid of surgical intervention at a relatively young age (I'm mid 30s) purely so that I can pursue a hobby is over the top, plus there's no way I'd get it done on the NHS & no way I could afford to have it done privately. As my training log shows though I can still train pretty well, just have to be inventive

I think the worst thing right now is that it will cause wrong position to lower back. That's probably one reason why my back went broken about year ago. So here are at least three of us... Let's keep up the fight!
