I'm still not sure on that one. America is an option, as are several countries in Europe, several in the East, and one in South America. All are tempting, for one reason or another. But as I am unsure, I thought I would wait a little and see how things unfold.

I am in Britain at the moment, and enjoying life. It seems a shame to leave. But another thing I have learnt is I am happy anywhere. So it probably doesn't matter.

Yes, its a shame about the cycling. I'm trying to be sensible about it, and not make myself vulnerable. I did consider taking up mountain biking, and doing those crazy 24hr races BGW is always on about. But I am not sure if I can get excited enough about it. Maybe I need to try it and see. But at least I would be safer, off road. Its something I am considering.

The other option was pure track racing. Again safer as off the road. But I'd be best at Kilo TT and pursuit, neither of which feature much in track leagues.

I probably won't be able to stay away too long !

this post gave me shivers! I had a restraining order of sorts out in the UK on a woman who sounds as devious as your own. she got my laptop,funds,passports etc ,got me contained in a room only she had a key to ,she would let me in and out and hide the key in her underwear so any attempts to get it would be met with her screams to get the attention of the 4 others sharing the house .. making it look like rape.
cut up all the photos and gifts I'd had from my family when I left for the UK and cut up my shoes and clothes,buying me plain Ts from a wholesaler and synthetic (the cheap sort) heavy steel toe cap boots as my only footwear
Lots of assaults,plates and glasses smashed over my head etc..
... I took on double shifts at my job (with dangerous adults in a secure residential setting!!) to avoid her and she would wake me through the night at random intervals
she claimed to have people back in Australia ready to execute orders to do horrific things to my sister and mum if I didnt follow her script when they rang our residence looking for me(so no one would think to contact authorities) .. got as much info about the clients at my work as she could garner from a friend of hers who also worked there and from other people in the town which she spilled to my employer when I escaped the house .. got me suspended for confidentiality breach so I was in a foreign country with no funds,most of my clothing and shoes destroyed,no bank account,no residence and of course she had hacked my email and my sisters email accounts as well as being present on every forum I'd had membership on (this is all well before I was on here dont worry)
she got two friends (one being a 6'4 nightclub bouncer) to come with her to get back money she claimed I owed her (everything I had so far earnt in 3 months in the UK had gone into her bank account) and she started railing on me when they refused to beat it out of me - I didnt move cause I wanted them convinced she was loony and I was innocent.. I could go on but it eventually stopped after words from the police unless you count her brothers threats.

... so I know what its like to be running from a devious bitch!
I came to the same conclusion as you though, being in my head is a much nicer than being in hers.. she would have mentals breaks sometimes and it seemed like what in laymans terms was multiple personality disorder brought on by abuse as a kid. She managed to become that devious and sneaky because she hid what the abuse had done to her from all the specialists when she was 5-10 years old..

I am happy as can be now, vegan since 2006,married since 2008 and father since 2010.

And I know there isn't much I can say, but I am glad you have come out the other side. And good to hear you have feel the same why about her, as I do about mine. They are horribly tormented and unhappy people, and if at all possible, they need compassion, not hate. The hatred or anger just draws us into their dark world.

Thank goodness the police believed you, and took action to protect you.

The forum thing is a classic stalker tactic. Mine did the same, or used a friend to do it, and joined stalking forums, for victims, and pretended to be a victim, gaining knowledge of how stalkers operate, and using that knowledge to work more effectively.

The cold hearted, calculating way she operated was chilling.

Mine was a classic psychopath, but scarily, she worked in mental health with vulnerable people. I think thats quite terrifying.

For me, the collusion of corrupt police officers in a criminal campaign was pivotal, as there was nothing I could do to stop her actions. I employed expensive solicitors, specialists, but they were constantly in shock at what she was doing. She even attempted to intimidate and threaten them too. The law doesn't protect anyone from people like her, if the police have no will to stop it. I would like to have seen individual police officers named and shamed, and prosecuted, but I think thats too much to expect.

But you prove there is a good life after such horrors ! And really, thats all that matters. Everything brought you to where you are, happily married, a dad, and enjoying life. More power to you !

Sorry everyone, I meant to add, in my earlier post........

There were people on this forum, bot past and present members, who were brilliantly supportive to me during the "troubles". They checked on me, offered advice, offered practical help and even offered to put themselves in harms way to protect me.

Anyone who dared to support me risked becoming a victim too, and the wrath of hell descended onto some who were brave enough to help. Death threats were the norm, but also threats against friends and family too. There were no limits.

So knowing the risks, people on VF were still willing to help out.

I am very grateful to everyone !

Welcome back JBC, glad to hear you're OK and got through this. More police corruption? Surely not! It's so good to know you're here considering what could have been the outcome. I just hope this woman is getting some kind of treatment.

Shame you don't cycle now, it seemed a passion for you. Maybe there's other doors opening up?

I know. Police corruption ? Hard to believe, isn't it ?

After it was exposed, I was told, verbatim;

"If PC ****** contacts you, you must not speak to him. You must call me. If I am not available, you must call 999. On no account must you speak with him. He has lied to me, lied to his senior officer, and done other things I cannot tell you"

And these are the people who are supposed to protect us from the dangerous psychopaths !

I should be thankful I'm not black, as at least I survived, unlike Stephen Lawrence and the other other victims of institutionalised corruption in the police.

I have no idea what has happened to stalker. I think she is far too clever to get sectioned. Working in mental health has taught her all the tricks. Gradually, people who knew her broke ranks and contacted me. Mostly, they had a similar message, along the lines of "nobody can stop her, she is too clever, she has done this stuff before, people are too scared to speak out" etc etc. So I assume she is probably onto her next innocent victim by now.

Yes, I do miss the cycling. But I am doing many other things to fill the void. I still ride the static trainer, so I still have the cycling strength and CV fitness. I'm doing plenty of weights. Mostly I am practicing Ba Gua and Xing Yi martial arts. It keeps me ticking over, and those more esoteric arts have always been a passion, although mostly in the background. Now they are daily, for a couple of hours.

Life is good. And some very exciting things are coming up. One is a dream come true, so if I choose to go that way, she will have done me a massive favour !

I feel relieved on your behalf, and it sounds like you've turned your negative experience into a positive one and grown from it.

Unfortunately, it is very, very common.

I could tell you some horror stories from my own line of work, but I'll spare you the upsetting details. Animal rights activists who claim that humans live free from abuse while animals are exploited are very wrong.

EDIT: Actually, I will reveal some details. Stop reading if you're easily upset. The following have been revealed to me over the last few months through the personal anecdotes of whistle-blowing staff (in care homes and psychiatric hospitals), disciplinary records, hidden footage and sadly, complaints that never got followed up:

* A woman who wet her bed was marched into the garden, stripped naked and hosed down with cold water.

* A nurse who regularly texted friends and talked loudly in a pub about the amusing exploits of those in her care, describing them as "nutters" and "fruit-loops". She is still in the job.

* A disabled woman with severe learning difficulties was shut in a room for 5 years with no visitors, no conversation from staff and only a TV for company. As a result, she became very aggressive and was put on anti-psychotic drugs, which cause mood swings and make her very confused. (She now gets out and about in a wheelchair, thank fuck)

* Staff helping themselves to drugs for recreational highs and recording them as being dispensed to patients

* A man sexually abused by several male staff

* A man sexually harassed constantly by a fellow patient (who kept getting into his bed and touching him), who was told he must be imagining it because he was psychotic and attention-seeking

* A man with no history of violence, self-harm or criminal activities being held down by four staff, stripped and injected in the bottom, because he asked for help but didn't want to go to hospital

* A vegan being refused vegan food on the grounds that he had "unreasonable and deluded beliefs"

Sadly, none of that surprises me. I have heard similar stories from people I know in the industry.

I was told by a friend who is a psychiatrist that 30% of mental health professionals become mental health patients.

Apparently, there is quite a high proportion of psychopaths working in mental health too. But many theories as to why they are attracted to the profession.

Mine still works in mental health, although she now has a blip on her police record, which the police tell me will come up when she has a yearly check. So maybe it'll make things difficult for her ? Somehow I suspect she will lie and intimidate her way out of trouble.

I have just finished my degree and I'm now a registered nurse and have worked in many different areas throughout my studies, including mental health. Some of the things Hiking Fox mentioned sadly don't surprise me. Nurses are among the most trusted professionals in Australia and I would imagine it's similar throughout the world. It's sad to think that so many abuse this trust in their job. Makes you wonder why a lot of people choose nursing as a career in the first place.
