Anybody know of lactose-free hayfever medication?

Postby Hiking Fox » Tue May 10, 2011 10:59 am

I've had to start popping the Loratidine tablets early this year, due to the hot, dry weather. Every brand that I've found seems to contain lactose, which is a bummer.

Does anybody know of a way to get the medication without the lactose?

Or, is there an alternative non-drowsy medication you know of, or another way to beat waking up with painful itchy eyes?

Please don't harp on about homeopathic medicines made from ground up bees, or eating spoonfuls of honey, cos I don't see any point in replacing tiny little lactose tablets with summat even less vegan!

Medications made from perilla leaf are actually quite effective for some people, worth a try!

No honey involved, but along the same theory of getting the local pollen inside of you etc, try going to a herbal doctor and getting some sort of tea made from local flowers, I do this when my hay fevers bad and it's always worked for me..

I use the Boots hayfever relief syrup which contains Loratadine without lactose - at about £5 for 100ml (10 doses) it's not cheap but non of the other stuff seems to work for me. (I think it's meant for kids.)

I wouldn't say it was insightful, I'd say it was hippy.

My Mum is a qualified acupuncture person now, so if you do ever get over this way maybe she can help... she also waffles on about your chi being low etc but so long as you dont listen to the nonsense it might help...

I was just reading of AquaSource’s Antioxidant which is supposed to be good for hay fever because of the pycnogenol and contains no lactose. I was thinking of using it for detox/cleansing. http://www.aquasourceproducts.co.uk/antioxidant.html

Hope that helps!
