Light, flexible, zero drop, zero cushioning, no arch support, £8 a pair. Very comfy once you learn to stop smashing your heels into the ground when you walk/run.

Yep. Once you've built up your foot strength and learned how to run in them they're very comfortable. And they're only £8 a pair. They're sold with no insole, the idea being that you buy one set of the matching insoles and just switch them out between pairs of shoes. I just leave the thicker insole in the ones I wear for walking for longer periods, and my other two pairs just have some thin and ultra hammered insoles that don't do much more than cover up the stitching in the footbed. The ones I run in have the thinnest insoles of the three.

Hi Andy,
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in replying to your e-mail and thank you for your enquiry regarding Asics products.
I am pleased to confirm that all of our running shoes are made of Synthetic leather. The easy way to be sure with our performance and fashion products is the product code, if the Code contains the letter N then they are synthetic, any other letter would usually mean that they are leather, this same principle also applies to other shoes in the Asics range.
For example the product code for the Gel Kayano 18 is T2C4N, therefore they will be synthetic, the product code can be found on the shoe box or on the label inside the tongue. There are different versions of the Ultimate 81, therefore some will be synthetic and some leather, however if you follow the above rule regarding the product code this should ensure you get the correct material for your requirements.
I can also mention that the glue used to manufacture the shoes is completely free of animal content.
I hope this information is helpful and if you require any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.
