running with a sword, far in the distance…

Postby LvH » Fri Nov 18, 2011 12:44 pm

...still running, still far in the distance…still running, not any closer…still running, still far away...still running, still far...suddenly here, shouts ”Haha!” Kills guard on left. Runs into castle. Guard on right: “Heyy!”

This will be my training log. Actual training log posts coming soon.

Mapmyrun starts the week on Sunday which is annoying but since they do the math for me I will stick with that.

11/6/11
4.95 trail miles, with club, kept up and chatted with another woman the whole time :)
time 1:09
13:56 min/mi

11/8/11
3.18 miles, treadmill, gym
35:00 min
11:00 min/mi
tried to do a timed mile but I think I remembered my start time wrong, because I had a 9:40 mile and the next day on trail I did better?

11/10/11
3.9 mi, local paved trail
included a 9:06 mile (timed to see how fast I can do a mile now, distance measured on mapmyrun so approximate)
48:08
12:20 min/mi

11/11/11
local paved trail, small hills
5.48 mi
58:30
10:40 min/mi
should have kept this shorter, was just supposed to be a test run for my new trail shoes before going out with the group on the weekend, but it was so easy to keep going. But then the next day I had less energy!

11/12/11
with club, kept up and chatted with people most of the first half, 3 people stayed back with me the 2nd half! bigger hills, trail.
4.0 mi
1:07:00 (forgot to turn off timer during ~10 min break where we met up with other people)
16:45 min/mi (actually a bit faster see above)

Total: 21.51 miles

but those last 3 days in a row were too much for me. Then I accidentally took the next 3 days instead of 2 days off due to poor preparation for having to be at work early on Tues. This week will probably be lower total miles.

Started a training plan, convinced myself to squeeze a workout in on Wednesday this week only because I knew I was planning to post a training log here, yay veganfitness board!!!!!!! :) :)

I like the half-hearted "Hey!" from the other guard after his mate gets killed.

Any events planned?

Yeah that hey is awesome. :)

No events planned yet, my goal for the training is to be faster in the spring when I go to back to running with my club at work, so that I can keep up with the group. It was all college students this year, they're not super fast, but 99% of the time they were too fast for me this year. So a couple months from now hopefully I can keep up with them for farther than the first half mile!

Training plan said \ I did

Su Easy 2-3 miles \ nothing
M XT up to 30 min \ nothing
T Easy 3-4 miles \ strength training - thankfully I paid what, for me, is a lot of $ for these classes and had to go, this broke a really bad streak of no exercise and terrible eating. Chin ups are freaking hard even with a rubber band and my trainer helping too much!
W Easy 2-3 miles \ 2 miles, treadmill on 1.3, 11:11 pace
Th Easy 3-4 miles \ 5.4 miles, 9:57 min/mi - surprisingly fast for me! :)
F Rest \ rest
Sa Easy 5-6 miles \ 5.31 miles, 12:45 min/mi

Total 15-20 miles \ 12.71 miles

Optimistic for this week :)

Training plan said \ I did

Su Easy 2-3 miles \ 6.55 miles 10:59 min/mi, freaking killed myself at the end to meet up with my husband at the car on time!
M XT up to 30 min \ nothing
T Quality 4-5 miles \ Fartlek ladder 30 60 90 2 2.5 3 2.5 2 90 60 30, 5.31 miles, 10:51 min/mi and strength training, 1 hour.
W Easy 2-3 miles \ nothing - some schedule conflict, I forget what it was but it seemed important
Th Tempo 3-4 miles \ 4.89 miles, 10:09 min/mi
F Rest \ rest
Sa Easy 6-7 miles \ 6.2 miles, 13:32 min/mi. Slow because it was a hilly trail run, nice because another runner who was o.k. with my pace knew the trails so I didn't need my map and the distance / time seemed to go by pretty fast!

Unfortunately later that day I thought I was having terrible allergies and it turned out to be a nasty cold that knocked me off running for the next WEEK. It may be that running far in 30 degree weather, wore down my immune system, because I felt fine before I went running. That's why I thought at first that it must be allergies.

I was really mad that I got sick. Above was one of my best running weeks ever. I wanted to run during the next week when I've been sick, but haven't because it seems like a guarantee to make it worse, so I have just tried to rest and get healthy instead. I still went to work though. I probably caught it at work, where one colleague was going around wearing a face mask because he has pneumonia!! Even though I didn't stay home while I was sick, it made me so mad that OTHER people came to work sick, and then I got sick! Totally not fair of me, I know: I should just let that go.

Total 17-22 miles \ 22.95 miles
