I hate how people don't even consider fish as an animal. The amount of people I've heard proclaim that they're vegetarian but they eat fish. Well you're obviously not vegetarian are you then because a fish is a living creature, it moves, it breathes, it eats, it excretes, it procreates! Also I hate it when people say 'I'm a vegetarian but I eat fish because, well, they're only fish!

I always wonder if any of these people have walked down to the river/ocean where people are fishing and just watched for a bit. I wonder if they would think differently about a fish when they see it fight for its life after it has been pulled out of the water with a piece of jagged metal piercing its flesh. Even when I was an omnivore kid--growing up around fishing--I was never comfortable with watching the fish struggle and ultimately get killed.

The first animals I stopped eating were fish, even before land animals. For its its all ethical. I stopped eating fish due to by-catch (google it)

For me it all comes down to suffering. I do not want to suffer, and I don't want someone else to suffer for my pleasure

Hi ya

Personally I have never enjoyed eating fish. Occasionally had a bit as a kid but didn't like it. I have always and I mean always felt that fish are sentient creatures. I felt that this was made evident to me a couple of years ago when my husband and I went on a little diving expedition by ourselves. Just a shore dive off the beautiful beach. Wasn't too deep but there were these huge silver fish just hanging out there in groups. There was one that followed me the whole dive. That was like 40 mins or so, I could turn and look and there he was sitting over my right shoulder - it was soooooo cool. I could just stare into it's eyes & it just regarded/observed me back. It felt like a dog following along to me, being curious as to what we were doing. If he was just acting by instinct, I believe it could have swam away at any point but it literally followed us along - it was awesome. :)

Good luck with your journey of giving it up - you can do it when you're ready!
