Lupin beans/seeds

Postby _Andreas_ » Tue Oct 11, 2011 8:04 am

I found some Portuguese lupin beans which have been soaked in brine. I bought them for protein content.

I've soaked them in water so they aren’t too salty anymore and can be eaten as a snack on their own. This is how they are traditionally eaten, but I was interested if anyone else has done something different with them, salads, dips, stews etc. I know they are used for making mock meats.

Or maybe I should just buy a lot of beer and stick to eating them as a snack

I made a wrap filling with them

Mixed:
Lupin beans
Black beans
Garlic
Onions
Carrot
Wheat gluten
Seasoning
Soy sauce

Fried in a pan with some oil. Tastes amazing put in a wrap with avocado, hummus, salad and tomatoes!!

I will keep an eye out for those. I don't recall ever having even hearing of Lupin beans before... :D
