hello
could anyone help me with this? i really need some advice...
about 6 or 7 months ago i injuried my right shoulder when falling off a kayak. it hurt a lot at the moment, but since i could move my arm and shoulder properly i assumed nothing was harmed.
but since then i've been having a bit of pain on that shoulder; it used to be no more than once a week, but now it's getting more frequent and it's lasting longer. i suspect the injury made me develop bursitis.
i've been doing weight training since long before the injury; in fact i have reduced the frequency of my regular weight sessions since last month and been focusing on bench press trainings cause i'll be competing on a bench press tournament in 10 days. i know that's probably why my shoulder pain has got worse, but i already singned up and i really really want to compete. i'm planning to stick to the training and compete not worrying about my shoulder, then after that i'll take a break from all upper body weight training and let it heal. am i being too irresponsible? the pain hasn't got to a critical level so i'm sort of ignoring it (at least until after the competition) but it does bother me and i really don't want it to get to a more severe point.
in fact i'm not being THAT irresponsible, i've been taking days off a lot more frequently than before, hoping the pain will go away, yet my shoulder is not getting any better. any advices? i don't wanna go to the doctor or take painkillers.
and PLEASE don't tell me not to compete. lol
i just wanna know how bad it can get and make sure i'll take a break before it gets to that point.
