portable meals/ snacks?

Postby Lilla » Fri Aug 26, 2011 7:48 am

This week I decided to go vegan..I have been mostly lacto vegetarien for about 15 years. I only had eggs on a few occassions, and then it was mostly when eggs was "in stuff" such as cake.

I would like to get some ideas on portable vegan meals that I can bring to school. I want something that holds up well and it nutrisious and filling. I useally am a "starvin' marvin" after school and end up getting junk food, not ideal i know.

I don't want to be a potato chip vegan!

Hello and congrats :D

Pasta dishes work quite well I've found, as does raw veg chopped up to snack on - of course fruit and nuts too.

Spacebars, Viana Picknickers or Mild Jumbos, Clif Builders & Bars, Raw Bites...

there are tons and tons of good protein sources that can be kept in a bag for days and they will stay fresh.

oatcakes
or
mixed nuts
or
if you want to be hardcore carry around some protein powder and a spoon. Mix with juice or water if you are super hardcore/have no tastebuds

all of these i like as you can grab them running out the door

Depends what your going for savory or sweet. You can replicate most non-vegan snacks with vegan.

Heres some of what i carry around with me.

Sweet:
Fruit
Dried Fruit such as raw goji or incan berries.
Wholefood vegan/raw energy bars such as vega(easy source of calories and rich in protein 10g if i remember). There are quite a few brands such as clif builder bars etc.
Often make my own sweet treats but using wholefoods when possible such as date balls(lol) etc.

Savory:
Raw Flax Crackers
Wraps with various fillings such as beans, hummus etc
Nuts
If your including small meals then various meals i can eat cold such as quiona/rice salads with beans etc.
Organic Herbal Products, Vega Cellular Foods, Vitashine Vegan Vitamin D3 Spray + More
