Have been dealing with a cold this weekend and still a little sniffly  . But, squats do not care about that.

8/15/2011

168.3 lbs (76.3 kg) - forgot to put weight last week, was 166.8 lbs (75.7 kg) so starting to go the right direction again at least.

Squat
1x10@bar
1x5@95 lbs
1x3@135 lbs
1x3@155 lbs - i forgot how to count and put the wrong plates  was too heavy also
2x5@145 lbs
1x3@145 lbs - couldn't keep tight coming out of the bottom and got stuck on 4th rep
2x5@145 lbs - with belt, need to be doing ab work, but keep forgetting

I didn't get the 5x5 at 145 lbs but still not bad really. 1x3@155 lbs is the most i've done without a belt, so squidgy bit in the middle is getting stronger.

Bench
1x20@bar
1x8@75 lbs
1x5@95 lbs
2x5@115 lbs
1x4@115 lbs - I thought I had it, but then the bar started going the wrong way :(

Dumbell Rows
1x12@25 lbs
1x8@35 lbs
3x5@45 lbs

Seated Cable rows
2x10@80 lbs
3x6@100 lbs

Dips
5,3,2

This cold ruined my recovery time, puffing so much and took longer than usual to get ready for next set.

8/17/2011

Had to cut session short so just did the important stuff

Squat
1x10@bar
1x5@95 lbs
1x3@125 lbs
5x5@145 lbs

abs sore

Bench
up to 1x2@125 lbs, just letting legs rest a bit before dead lifting

Dead lift
1x8@135 lbs
1x5@185 lbs
1x5@235 lbs

Pullups
2,2,2

Too tired to do more anyway, so not such a big loss cutting pressing short. Was stuck in the shop half the day waiting for my car to be fixed and sitting around doing nothing really takes it out of me for for some reason.

Squat
2x5@bar
1x5@95 lbs
1x3@135 lbs
3x5@155 lbs

form was shit so left it at that. Will try 155 again monday. Starting to feel really heavy and leaving some good marks across my back :D

Overhead Press
1x10@bar
1x5@55 lbs
1x3@65 lbs
3x5@70 lbs

Hang Cleans
3x5@70 lbs

Machine Rows
1x12@70 lbs
3x5@110 lbs

Incline Press Machine
up to 3x5@110

forgot abs again, but they were sore already from squatting, so prolly good enough

8/22/2011

Bodyweight 169 lbs (76.7 kg)

not happy with that so stepped it up with 1200 calories of sausage gravy on biscuits for breakfast

Squat
1x10@bar
1x5@95 lbs
1x5@115 lbs
1x3@135 lbs
5x5@155 lbs

felt heavy, but solid

Form pretty good throughout, happy with this

Bench
1x12@bar
1x8@70 lbs
1x5@95 lbs
2x5@115 lbs
1x4@115 lbs - same as last time :(

Dead lift
1x8@135 lbs
1x5@185 lbs
1x3@225 lbs - /w belt from here
1x4@245 lbs - failed on 5th rep, just couldn't get it off the ground.

Too tired to do anything else so went home. Hoped to make 5 reps on dead lift at 245 lbs, but any improvement is good I suppose. A bit pissed about bench press though, need to get big and fat to improve on that, so lots of work to do there  . Squat is coming together nicely. Don't have to try as hard to get the bar in the right spot now, feels a bit more natural. Good things to come I think.

Been very busy this last week, so missed posting here. Aweful training because was so tired and no training on Monday because was too busy being lazy

8/31/2001

Bodyweight 172.2 lbs (78.1 kg) - on creatine since last week and upped calories tons

Squat
some warmup sets
1x4@165 lbs - /w belt cause last week could barely get 1 rep no belt
1x4@165 lbs - really slow 4th rep
1x3@165 lbs
1x3@165 lbs
1x3@165 lbs

Front Squat
1x6@105 lbs

most I could do at the time, almost dropped it the last rep so racked it.

Bench
1x15@bar
1x12@75 lbs
1x8@95 lbs
1x6.5@115 lbs - 7th rep assisted
1x4@doesn't matter cause the spotter couldn't keep his grubby mitts of the bar

1x12@95 lbs close grip

It's so hard to get a decent spotter. Why do so many people have to be involved in somebody else's lift? Am I the only one that gets pissed when someone touches the bar?

did some cable rows and messed around with hang cleans up to 75 lbs, not so consistent with these and a lot are going too far forward

did a couple pull ups but was spent so went home.

ideally you just start training more with few people and they will learn how to spot you in the way you prefer. I guess so many gym rats like their bar lifted for them :D

No it annoys me too. I usually say something along the lines of: 'It might look like I'm struggling but I need to see how much I can do myself so please don't help me unless I say HELP/rack', seems to get the message over :D most of the time

Still some bad spotting going on, but not so bad as last time.

9/7/2011

My scale is busted, so not sure if I gained weight this week, but I've been eating a sandwich while making dinner, so I'm hoping good things are going on with that.

Tired so quick session.

Squat
2x5@165 lbs
1x2@165 lbs - 2nd rep was nasty so racked it
1x6@135 lbs

Bench
1x8@105 lbs
1x5@120 lbs
1@135 lbs
2x8@95 lbs

Pull ups
3x3

Squat started well, could have done 1 more rep on first set I think, but the next set took everything out of me. Maybe not enough time between sets.

I think I am going to be doing a 3x5 routine with a higher rep set after. So tired now, going to sleep.

If I'm getting someone to spot me who's knew at the club, or elsewhere where I don't know them you just say "do not touch the bar at all unless it starts travelling downwards".

What program you following now?

I've been doing that but it's mostly bodybuilder types that regularly come to my gym and it's a hard habit for them to break. Especially when everyone else wants help lifting.

I'm not really following a program. I just go in, squat, then do whatever else I fell like. Mostly doing 5x5 or 3x5 + one higher rep set trying for 10 reps, but sometimes other rep schemes. If I make all the sets I add a bit the next time if not I try the same weight again.

It would probably be better to be more structured than that, and it would be if I could find anybody to workout with regularly. The people here really are ridiculous though, pretty much just benching 4 or 5 times a week and using all the machines for everything else. There are actually 4 different curling machines.
--------------------------------------------------------

9/12/2011

missed gym on friday, had too much stuff going on in the afternoon/evening.

Still no scale, eating not so good though, so probably not gaining weight. Will start tracking food again tomorrow and keep eating till I get at least 3000 calories in no matter what it takes.

Squat
5x5@165 lbs w/ belt :D

Changed my mind about higher rep squats for now, seems more aerobics than weight training and I don't like aerobics. 5th set was crazy tough, last 3 reps grindy as hell and just barely got the last one up. I think the slowest rep ever.

Overhead press
3x5@75 lbs
1x11@55 lbs - missed 12th about chin level

Dead Lift
1x8@135 lbs
1x5@185 lbs
1x3@225 lbs

back really tight so stopped there. Plan was 245 lbs next, will be friday for that.

Dips
5,3,3

9/14/2011

Squat w/ belt
1x5@175 lbs pb
1x2@175 lbs
1xf@175 lbs
belt off
1x10@135 lbs - laying on the floor for a bit after this

Bench

3x5@115 lbs
1x10@95 lbs

Hang clean
lotsxtons up to 75 lbs

Happy with this session really. Pb for 5 reps felt good, think I will try for max friday, but maybe try 175 lbs again. Abs so sore right now.

9/19/2011

Missed the gym again friday. Am putting things off to get to the gym on monday and wednesday then have to skip my friday session to get things ready for the weekend. I don't like doing that, so working on a better way to get shit done and still make it to the gym.

I got a scale this week and was devastated, still 172 lbs (78 kg.) I thought for sure I would have gained some weight. It is an analog scale so not as precise as the last one, but I'm done with digital scales. I've had 2 pretty expensive digital scales quit working properly this year, so picked up an analog scale from a thrift store for $2. It's pretty heavy duty and good up 330 lbs (150 kg) so hopefully will last me a while.

Squat
1x5@135 lbs
1x3@165 lbs
1x1@185 lbs pb
1x1@205 lbs pb again :D (~93 kg)
1x9@145 lbs +1 fail

Bench
1x20@bar
1x10@75 lbs
1x5@100 lbs
2x5@120 lbs
1x1@135 lbs
1xF@150 lbs - with a bit of help off my chest was able to get it up.

Dead lift
1x8@135 lbs
1x5@185 lbs
1x3@225 lbs
1x5@245 lbs + 1 fail and another fail after a little break

Got a bunch of clif bars and builder bars (~70) this weekend for less than $17 from a surplus food store, so will be having a couple of those every day for a while to hopefully help out with this weight situation.

Will be stuffing my face with tofu and rice now  .

Nice squat PB, 1.2x BW.

Builder bars are boss.

How wide a grip do you take on bench?

Thanks peoples  Was so stoked to make over 200 lbs squat. Based on that and todays workout I think 100 kg is not so far away as I thought. And, hells yeah builder bars rock!

@chewy With bench I have a normal grip I guess. My hands are ~1 inch over from the inside rings.

------------------
9/21/2011

Really only squatting today because shoulder wasn't feeling right with pressing.

Squat
1x12@bar
1x10@95 lbs
1x5@135 lbs
1x3@155 lbs
5x5@175 lbs

Some reps on the last couple sets were kind of ugly, but overall pretty good.

After a few warm up sets on overhead press i did some overhead shrugs and lat pull downs because they always seem to help my shoulder. Hot shower and some stretching seems to have my shoulder back to normal, but will be careful with it the next few weeks.
