Leg training recovery and running.

Postby muchluv » Wed Aug 17, 2011 6:51 pm

Just wondered what people do in regards to leg training and running. I started running a while ago then stopped, but had found when I'd leg trained the day before it was a lot harder due to soreness. Would running make it harder for legs to recover? I'm not doing any leg training or running at the moment, but want to start both, but not sure if i should leave one of them for a while?
Although the effeminate nature of my username may suggest otherwise, my gender actually falls into the male category.

Hey Muchluv... I suppose it depends what kind of leg training you are doing (how hard you're pushing) ... but yes, I get sore legs and find it harder to run if I have done anything intense the day before (squats or a speed running session).

I don't think you have to leave one or other, but just work out a weekly schedule that allows your body a bit of recovery.. or if leg training is more important, treat the run just as a 'loosener' rather than full training (on these runs I sometimes stop and stretch at 20 & 40 mins .. just to force myself to stretch more and not get carried away)
