The Walking Dead tv series - Opinions?

Postby loveliberate » Fri Aug 12, 2011 7:54 pm

I read through all of the currently available graphic novel books in the series and have just started in on the first season DVD. I like the graphic novels pretty well and am looking forward to following the TV series. And you folks? :D

You mean season 2? I thought season 1 was well done, but way too short! I also heard the show frontrunner just quit, so it may take a turn for the worse :(

Nah, I just picked up the "Complete Season One" DVD. I just watched the first episode and liked it quite well. :D

It isn't my type of thing at all, but a geeky co worker was raving about it. I watched the first episode and actually its really good. Would defiantly watch session 2.

ME TOO!!!!

At first, I didn't think a zombie show could stay engaging over a couple of episodes but it did, a nice surprise!

I like zombies but never watched this series because I'd missed a few episodes before I found out when it was on. I don't keep up with dvd releases either, so had no idea that was available. Definitely will pick up the dvd though, I've only heard good things about the show.

Rather like 28 Days Later (but even more so), I like how this focuses less on the zombies, or even the physical survival aspects (wish there was more of this actually) and instead centers in on how folks relate with each other in disastrous situations.

I am so over zombies and vampires. Over them like I'm over indestructible talking cars and shabby one-eyed detectives. But I did like the WD graphic novel series a lot.

I think the TV series is very well implemented. It changes a few major things (particularly to do with who lives and dies, and the season 1 finale is an event/location not even mentioned in the comic series). But changing plot elements doesn't seem to have detracted from it at all.

The graphic novel series is a lot darker - there are a number of horrible things that happen you'd NEVER see done on TV. But the TV series is still quite character-driven, and gritty and emotive in the same way.

Also looking forward to season 2. :)

I posted about this show last year, good to see it finally getting the love it deserves. I can't wait for the second season in October.

WTF do vampires have to do with anything? Vampires are fairy tales, zombies are pure awesomeness and completely unrelated. :P

Also, how can you be tired of a show thats been off the air for like 10 years? Columbo was a good show as well.

Sort of on topic, it's about time somebody makes a zombie detective story. I would buy it for sure.

IMO it's worth a watch but I wouldn't buy it. The Zombie effects are well done but I think the character drama got a bit boring, I wanted more zombie action less eastenders.

I feel that the soap opera aspects combined with the zombies makes the show interesting the first place.

My point was that they were definitely all good in their day (even Knight Rider) but not any more...

Both zombies and vampires have been done to death in movies in the last 10 years. (IMHO.) However, we're all entitled to have a genre, just one each, that we watch indiscriminately, it's just that mine isn't the undead.
