What is the heart and lungs recovery time after cardio?

Postby muchluv » Wed Aug 10, 2011 5:38 pm

Just wondered what the recovery time for the heart and lungs are after cardio (mainly heart). The heart is a muscle so must need recovery time (I would imagine). There are recomendations of 5 days a week of cardio, but if someone jumped into this and the cardio was vigorous, wouldnt the heart not be getting enough time to recover? Links and info appreciated
Although the effeminate nature of my username may suggest otherwise, my gender actually falls into the male category.

there isn't "a" recovery time. it depends on your fitness level and on the intensity and lenght of the cardio exercise. but this is just an answer from someone who hasn't had official medical or professional fitness trainings. so maybe someone else can confirm what is simply obvious to me after years of doing fitness at an amatorial level, speaking to others, reding posts on vf :D
i'm focusing on some kind of stuff

I doubt you need to worry about this unless you have a heart problem. The heart is a muscle which never rests, it's always working. There's no such thing as a general recommendation for cardio, it all depends on what fitness level you're at, what and how you are training and what your goal is.
