cool piece.

it's weird though. i want to like Russel Simmons, but i just find that every interview he does, he comes off a little "wacky".

Glad to see John Salley's name in there. He's a co-host on Adam Carolla's new car TV show and he's not afraid to toss his ethical beliefs out there in the mainstream world of sports and auto aficionados. of course who'd mess with a 7' tall black guy. kudos!

I've read this before it I still laughed out loud reading it again. There are some really funny lines but there's also some stupid bits. Vegan diet expensive? Don't think so, it's as expenise or inexpensive as you want it to be. And he could've chosen Mac Danzig if he's going to throw an MMA fighter into the mix, but no he goes for Luke Cummo who drinks his own piss and I'm pretty sure he's not a vegan anyway (only vegan when training for a fight I think).

I don't know what the article is getting at though. Are the powerful going vegan for longevity? Or is it just a fad?

These types of articles piss me off. Most of those people aren't even vegan, they are just dietary vegetarians at best. Steve Wynn spends more money on leather, dairy, eggs and animal flesh than most any non-vegan. Ellen Degeneres owns a dog food line that supports factory farming. Russel Simmons has said in interviews that he eats egg noodles sometimes when he wants to. Bill Clinton eats fish and wears leather. And, I'm 99% sure Alec Baldwin is doing radio advertisements for a steakhouse talking about juicy, delicious, mouthwatering, succulent cow flesh. If it isn't him, he needs to have a team of lawyers on that because it sounds exactly like him.

Most of the people in the article are just terrified that they are going to die before they can get all the money, so they are changing thier diet in an attempt to live longer. Even without those people the article has an anti-vegan slant and they had to bring up the one nutjob that drinks piss.

I do like John Salley, but the rest I would rather not be so public.

Edit: I am going to put Opera on this other computer eventually, the new internet explorer is worse than I remember it having been years ago when I stopped using it.

i feel the same way about Robin Quivers (Howard Stern's sidekick). she's vegan for health reasons only, continually spouts incorrect facts and continues to wear leather and fur (i believe). so she comes off as a kook. i mean it's great that the "V" word is spoken to the mainstream, but I don't know how much good it does when it comes from these questionable sources.

Health vegans = hippies. Just say no.
