swedish radio symphony orchestra (perugia - italy): symphony no. 9 by gustav mahler

99 elements plus the director. excellent interpretation. probably the best concert so far this year. i'm liking mahler more and more. the intricacy of his works is sometimes inimaginable, and yet he was able to explore with force and delicacy whatever he had in mind. chapeau!!!

Saves the Day
The Get Up Kids

May 29th? Toledo, OH.
Nice show. My brother played. Then there was a fight outside. He tried to break it up. He got hit.
That ruined an otherwise awesome night.
"The worker has the right to leave his boss, but can she do it? And if she does quit him, is it in order to lead a free life; where she will have no master but herself? No, she leaves to sell herself to another employer. She's driven by the same hunger. Thus the worker's liberty is only a theoretical freedom, lacking any means of realization; an utter falsehood."

they offered vegan BBQ: bocca burger grilled alongside chicken and beef and served on nonvegan buns. it makes me wonder -is it better that the promoter makes an uneducated attempt to serve a cruelty free alternative or not try at all?

Marco Benevento (solo show) at Chico's House of Jazz last fall. It was pretty ill. The man is spot on live. One of the owners of the venue introduced me to Benevento when the show was over but the guy didn't seem very interested in talking to me. Regardless, the music was amazing. For just one person playing, the music was so incredibly rich and intricate.

I don't go to many shows though. I would love to, but most of my favorite bands don't come to Jersey too often.

Last night went to see Rise Against play in Brixton. The opening act was Tom Morello "The Nightwatchman", who I wanted to see just as much as Rise Against.
Spectacular gig, great mosh pit and special appearance from Billy Bragg. My ears are still ringing this morning.

Well, I saw Scratch Acid last Saturday. I'm a big fan of front-guy David Yow and drummer Rey Washam. They are excellent, eccentric, and heavy-duty.

Machine Head on Sunday night (3rd Dec), Wembley Arena.

Supports were Shadows Fall (impressed!) and Devildriver (even more!) then Bring Me The Horizon, who got a crap reception and did not deserve top support slot by a long way. MH were brilliant as always, good use of the back catalogue and gave it 100%.

I went to see Adam Ant in Edinburgh on December 11th - loved it! I had waited some 30 odd years for the opportunity and could hardly speak by the end of it as I sang my little heart out.....................still brings a big smile to my face................
