We can now confirm that this event is definitely going ahead, and we're looking for volunteers to help set it up and take it down, as everything needs to be off the village green the same day. If you or any of your friends are interested, here's the deal:

You get a crew t-shirt to keep, plus free food and (non-alcoholic) drinks on the day. You also get half price admission to the evening do in The Ruby Lounge in town (8pm - late). Crashing space can be arranged for people coming from out of town.

Please note that all the people working on this event are doing so for free.

I am planning to attend and I'd be happy to help out with the stall.

HF just informed me that we have to pay for the stall, which I am happy to pay for personally as it's a mere £20 (VF makes no money at all, in fact we probably owe money!) but we don't actually have any merchandise as such, or even publicity materials. I guess we could have a laptop with a dongle for internet access to use on the day, maybe sell some bars of some kind, maybe get some t-shirts made. Any ideas?

Yeah, sorry about that. We did want to give VF and animal rescues free stalls, but the cost of hiring the village green has gone up and we have to pay for every stall that's there.

I think it's worth it, though, as the green is such a lovely spot with a relaxed atmosphere and vehicle access for unloading. If we'd picked Castlefield in the city centre, we'd have drunken Deansgate snobs sneering at us, a sloped site and no toilets. Wythenshawe Park is too hard to get to and hardly anybody has heard of it, most of the other parks aren't hireable, and doing it in a car park or indoor venue would just spoil the atmosphere.
