I really think this is what it all comes down to here. It is pretty simple: if you are running very little, as you are, your fitness will really struggle to improve and you will never enjoy it - it will always be hard work. There is no way around it. If you can dedicate yourself to actually putting some consistent training in, you will find some fitness and likely find you don't hate it so much any more. There are no shortcuts.

Try changing things up a bit and run with standard running shoes for a while, run off road, force yourself to do some hills. Just do something different. Or find a different sportWhy force yourself to do something that you hate so much? It is a triathlon after all; running is an important part. Keep in mind, if you want to move out of the local races you are currently doing, even if you are swimming 15 mins, and assuming you are riding under 1hr, a 50min run (in the tri) is most often not going to get you to the podium.

I've swum the 1.5km in the low 17's, if that's what you were referring to.
