As it turns out that EliteFTS grip program was just a massively watered down version of the KTA program, so I bailed on that and started the RRBT program three days ago. So far so good. Got a CoC #1.5 today and closed it out of the box on each hand :D . Looking forward to this.

I think I might bail on SS, do some maxes this week and move on to 5/3/1 next week. SS has become insanely boring, not to mention 2.5+ just in the gym. It's clear variety is needed but I'm thinking more than just dropping one squat day and keeping the rest the same. I'll see how I feel at the gym today.

I also finished Phase One of the grip program. Hands are feeling good.

5.16.11

Squat:
5 - 60
3 - 85
1 - 102.5
1 - 120
1 - 135
1 - 143 (ties PR)
1 - 150 (PR)
1 - 155 (PR)

I don't know wtf happened but the singles were fast and tight and felt perfect. Work has been busier than it ever has been and I had like 1000 calories yesterday but everything went up well. The 143 was easy and fast, the 150 was solid and the 155 was pretty slow but depth was there and everything was tight.

I'm taking this as as good a sign as any that frequent squat sets of 5 have reached the point of diminishing returns for me. Would have been nice to hit 1.5bw but it's just a random # and squatting like I was was destroying motivation, so bench and dead (and maybe press) maxes this week, a weekend of absolute debauchery with some buddies from NY and 531 on Monday.

I'm most likely going to do the "regular" 531 with conditioning, but timely that this came out today if I decide to give it a shot

5.17.11

Bench:
5 - 40
3 - 60
1 - 80
1 - 92.5
1 - 106.7 (PR)
1 - 115.8 (PR)

F - 125

115.8 (255lbs) was fast and I probably should have gone for 120 next but got talked into 125... by a bodybuilder

Everything felt good, kept elbows tucked and everything tight with 125 which was good I suppose, maybe if I flared a bit it would have went up.

Regardless the main piece of the bench puzzle I have to work on is leg drive by FAR. I just don't know how to do it. Maybe I am doing it but expect more? But it doesn't feel like much atm.

Thanks brotha!

5.18.11

Deadlift:
5 - 60
3 - 85
1 - 102.5
1 - 125
1 - 143
1 - 154.4 (PR)
F - 163.4
1 - 163.4 (PR)
F - 168

Was gunning for 170. Never quite got the groove right. Next time I max on all lifts I'm gonna spread it out over a week. Ah well, now I know which lift of the three is weakest :D . I went for 168 a few minutes later and it didn't budge. Again, not quite grooved.

I know my DL is weakest statistically and also that I have to work on grinding max effort attempts--my back was pretty straight throughout the set. Live and learn--on to 1200.
