4.13.11

Work Sets:

Squat: 5/2/3 @ 127.5
Bench: 5/4/4 @ 102.5
Deadlift: 1x5 @ 140

Took grip out about a half inch total on bench--felt solid. The first work set was as perfect a set as I've had.

Squat was :?: . The first 5 were solid and it was just a failure after that. Bringing the recorder to see what's up for next session.

DL still strong. 3 big wheels on monday, finally.

4.18.11

Sets Across:

Squat: 4/4/5 @ 127.5
OHP: 3/2/2 @ 67.5
Chin (Purple Band): 3/3/2

Weird session.

Squat felt pretty solid so even though according to the program I should stick to 127.5 again (as I didn't get 5 reps on the first set), I'm gonna move up next time, either 128.8 or 130.

OHP just didn't happen. The gym was packed and I don't think I was focused, plus I skipped Friday altogether and didn't eat worth a damn over the weekend. I smashed 3x5 @ 65 so expect way more reps with this weight this coming Friday.

Chins were surprisingly controlled.

Fell off the wagon (and into some old, bad habits) hard last week. Shooting to pick it back up Wednesday.

Don't be too harsh on yourself about the lapse, just get straight back into the training (or just HTFU). You probably already know what the best advice is, just do it!

10 shitty days off. Was dreading the day back but it wasn't so bad.

4.28.11

Sets Across:

Squat: 3x5 @ 115
Bench: 3x5 @ 92.5
Deadlift: 1x5 @ 135

Squats need to be cleaned up.

Dropped hips a little lower on deadlifts and the weight was super light.

5.2.11

Sets Across:

Squat: 3x5 @ 120
OHP: 3x5 @ 62.5
Chins (Purple): 3/3/2

Presses were very light. Squat felt a little better.

5.4.11

Sets Across:

Squat: 4/3/3 @ 125
Bench: 3x5 @ 97.5
Deadlift: 1x5 @ 142.5 (315lbs)

DL warmups felt weak but went for 315 anyway--been thinking about it too long. It wasn't pretty but all 5 went up.

Only got 10 squat reps but they were the most solid sets I've done in weeks.

5.8.11

Sets Across:

Squat: 3x3 @ 125
OHP: 5/4/4 @ 62.5
Chins (Purple): 4/2/2

Grip Training:

3x5: Sport
Crush: No. 1
Negative: No. 2
Crush: No. 1
Negative: No. 2
1x5: Clamp (both thumbs)
3x10: Expand Your Hands (EYH) Bands: White

Squat drama continues; recovery is solely to blame. Will hit it Tuesday. Started this grip program today. The No. 3 and 4 are en route--I kind of felt like an asshole buying the No. 3 (let alone the No. 4) but wtf maybe I'll be able to do negatives with them someday. Actually closing the No. 3 (from a little wider than a parallel set) was one of my goals for the year so fuckin' a bring it on.

After doing this program for a few cycles, I'm gonna do the RRBT and then KTA, neither of which are publicized almost anywhere but the gripboard. Already have both programs, but will do the EFS program first.

5.10.11

Sets Across:

Squat: 4/3/4 @ 125
Bench: 4/3/2 @ 102.5
Deadlift: 1x3 @ 145

Gonna start the advanced novice program on Monday (squatting heavy 2x/week). Pretty pissed I couldn't get past the weight I've been at since October 2010, but wtf all my other lifts are way higher. Maybe bringing back down to 2 days will help (along with some HTFU) as I've tried everything else i could think of. I know I can get to working sets of at least 132.5 on a novice progression, if even only 2x a week.

During the deadlift set it felt like my back was super-rounded. Upon viewing the video footage it seems it was perfectly straight and that I easily had that missed fourth rep (and probably a fifth). Will nail 145 Monday and learn to push through a little more.

Got greedy benching. Should have been 100.

Back looks perfect, no rounding there to worry about. I don't know anything about sumo form, so dunno if its an issue, but the bar seems to be always a good inch or so in front. I have always read and try to rip it up my shins and keep it in contact with my body.

No idea why you failed that 4th lift, maybe fitness or mental cos you had the strength for sure. Maybe you need that personal trainer in the background to come over and shout at you?

You seem well suited to sumo deadlifts. Looked solid to me, keep it up!

Thanks guys.

Hal--her ass is beyond description. Top 5 asses I've ever seen in person quite frankly.

Tayln--Yeah its working extremely well for me. With my leverages, it's the perfect solution.

The Bald One--Thanks for that I never noticed. I have been told to set my ass a little lower which would put my shoulders closer to/further behind the bar which would result in a more vertical bar path. Will give it a shot.

I'm guessing it was fitness. Mentally I was ready to get it but my body told me it was over. After viewing the video I know I was fine with reps to spare. Live and learn.
