My next race is the Plymouth Half Marathon. I'll be aiming for a Pb, and it's a high profile event at which to get the vegan Runners vest seen. I'll be aiming for 1:30:00, which should place me about 160th of 4000 runners. Where should I start?
There is a 1:30 marker on the starting funnel. It's about halfway along the start, so I'll be in a crowd, which will slow me down. I'll have to push past the inconsiderate element among the 2:00-2:30 runners who start at the front and run 12 minute miles with three running abreast. This would have the beneficial element of lots of people see a VRUK vest speeding past them.
Alternatively I could aim to start with about 160 runners ahead of me.
A third option is to start 10 minutes after everyone has gone, and run through the crowds as they thin out.
