New vegan cafe in East Central London

There's a brand new old-fashioned tea room/cafe just opened on Old St, about 10 mins walk from Old St Tube on the Northern Line. It's totally vegan and sells a very wide range of cakes.

I popped in on the opening day to sample plum frangipane and a chewy choc chip cookie with a pot of tea. Prices were reasonable for the location, though my friend's "cappuccino" was just a basic milky white coffee, so they need to sort that out.

* Plus points: gorgeous cake, great location, all-vegan
* Minus points: no toilet, narrow doorway with a step up would make things difficult for disabled people and those with pushchairs.

I really want to go here! They have a Facebook page and have been posting pictures *drool*.

It really bugs me when places have no lpo, but it seems commonplace in London? Maoz, Beetroot and Flat White in Soho don't have toilets either. Are there public toilets near this place?

Beatroot is a takeaway, so is under no obligation to provide toilets, but any place that serves you your food at your table on plates should really have one. Unfortunately cafes in small premises now cite the other law that toilets must be disabled accessible as the reason why they don't have one.

The bike shop directly opposite has a toilet and is open late; the owner of the cafe suggested I go there. Dunno whether that would piss them off, in the long term.

Just to update this. October Cafe has closed down. A big shame.
