TUF 13 JDS vs. Lesnar

During a conference call for next Saturday’s “Fight For the Troops 2”, UFC president Dana White announced that the coaches for Season 13 of The Ultimate Fighter will be top flight heavyweights Junior Dos Santos and former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.

Lesnar and Dos Santos will coach teams of up and coming welterweights in pursuit of a contract with the UFC.

Dos Santos continues to roll through the heavyweight division. With a 12-1 record, Dos Santos beat three game opponents last year in Gilbert Yvel, Gabriel Gonzaga and Roy Nelson.

Lesnar last year survived a tremendous amount of punishment in the first round before hanging on to beat Shane Carwin by submission. He wasn’t so lucky this past October, when he lost his UFC Heavyweight Championship by TKO to the current champ, Cain Velasquez.

Dana White said during the call that the winner of the eventual Dos Santos vs. Lesnar fight will get the next shot at the currently injured UFC Heavyweight Champion.

*puts tinfoil hat on... again*

Am I the only one who noticed that this is the second time in two years that a UFC fighter in the HW title picture is suddenly out of action for 9+ months with a "career/life threatening" illness/injury, after which time Brock Lesnar ends up with a title shot?

Regardless, him fighting for a title shot after just being completely dismantled and humiliated by the current champ is yet another reason why I support other orgs well before I support the UFC.

EDIT:   http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2011/1/11/19 ... -to-do-tuf

Well that explains why JDS was selected (and deserving of a #1 contender spot)...

I think "Why Brock Lesnar Will Be The Worst ___________ of All Time" applies to pretty much any scenario. I'm sorry to fans, but I can't friggin stand the guy, and I haven't since day one.

14 Welterweights Announced for 'Ultimate Fighter' Cast

2/28/2011 11:50 AM ET By Michael David Smith

Fourteen welterweight fighters, ranging in age from 22 to 32, some prospects who train with prestigious MMA teams and some from little-known gyms in far-flung places, will compete on the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter.

Spike TV released the full cast list of fighters who will appear on this season's reality show, get coached by Brock Lesnar or Junior dos Santos, and compete for the six-figure UFC contract. The season starts Wednesday, March 30.

Although some seasons of The Ultimate Fighter have featured well-known veterans, none of this year's fighters will be recognizable to most viewers. The full list is below.
