i read 63 of them too, plus a few more that i didnt finish (james joyce ...:-)
and a reasonable few of these are my favourite books ever,..there are some real beauties on that list,..plus obviously there are a lot missing too. fun to tick through the titles though!

also on the topic of the bible and religious stuff, i think its important to know these stories, so much of cultural and social references come from it,..its a good things for kids to read/learn,..what they then do with the knowledge is their own lookout! :-)

I agree with that. I read the bible from start to partway through the old testament while I was starting a new job and people started whispering about 'is that new guy a fundamentalist bible basher' though. They were quite shocked to realise I was not a Christian.

The things that stood out for me was the sheer level of violence and the number of times people got away with stuff because they had the big guy on their side. Tch!

Same. I read over 60 books last year, but have only read 7 of the books on that list over my lifetime. Animal Farm is probably my favorite book, but mostly because of its terseness.
Are you doing enough to be the best?

wow...that would be 4 1/2 for me. Animal Farm, Brave New World, Ulysses (read it in English...started and gave up), Bible ( ...i was curious what the absurdity is all about) and my all time favorite Madame Bovary <3 ... ;) ....
That list is funny. Its like 3/4 of Hollywoods material.

...but where is Pratchett though?!
