SW Devon's strongest man is vegan. It was held in my back garden without publicity, and those paving slabs needed moving anyway.

Seriously, well done Tom!!

Impressive List! yeah i think maybe based on what you're saying bragging rights should start with National Level or State Level Titles (in US) and any sort of Record Breaking (at any level assuming the federation isn't really really young) right?

Is there any chance of xOlix ever competing at World Level?

Exactly. Just like when I got my nice trophy for 3rd place in the 275 lb. class from my first PL meet, simply because one guy bombed out trying to bench 500+ on three attempts and never made it. After that, there were only 3 of us, so guess who took home an award simply for not bombing out! :lol:

They do make great doorstops, those "participant" type trophies. Or, one can always claim that it was a hard-fought contest and that there were a dozen people in the same weight class who came away empty-handed, just for a good story to tell :D

haha yes! And to be fair, some people are not all that forthcoming about their titles and medals and did they actually have anyone to fight against in that class or did they actually beat anyone :D

Sometimes guy who came 16th might have beaten more people in a tougher contest than silver medalist...

i think confusion comes from more spectated and televised sports events which all have huge amount of high level participants so you will get the appreciation of how difficult it is to get a podium finish. Sports like cycling, running etc, extremely hard to ever place top 3.

Yeah you know, I might have filled in some crap titles to give a complete list :oops:

But still you can use those to show the non vegans what is possible, vegan or not ;)

@lordmuppet
I have no idea, I´m quite sure he didn´t yet and I don´t know what he thinks about it
But he rarely competed outside the ipf
Maybe this years RAW EU Championships might be attractive to him?

Situation is probably exaggerated by the federation proliferation in powerlifting. I doubt there are many niche sports with as many titles up for grabs at all levels. Can only beat the people who show up though, no point in feeling low about achievements.

For the record, I won a "Dreamiest Hunk" award last year. I just wasn't sure if the power and strength section was the right area to post about it.

Hm. I beat two meat eaters in the BB-Comp, which Is okay for a first comp in that area. On the PL-comp, I beat noone but got my ass handed to me, by Jakob :oops: Tom was the second best lifter in the whole comp regarding relative scoring and Jakob was somewhere in the upper middle. Jakob also placed 4th or 5th in a Strongman newcommer's cup in Switzerland, beating 4 guys or so.

In the newcommercup I did, I was FORCED to participate by Alex and beat his sorry ass, so I'm counting that as a win :lol: ;)

Sounds like the raw national bench press record I will break in june, its only 50kg, so long as no experienced lifters turn up on the day (most seem to look down their noses as raw comps around here) and I don't bomb epically, I'll be guaranteed a record. I'll probably brag about it but only to people outside of powerlifting who don't realise how easy it is to get titles :wink:
