Bike Journal

Postby GY Jon » Sun Jan 02, 2011 10:19 am

Is there a VF bikejournal club? If not I could start one and hope someone will join me in my solitude. I'm currently adding my miles to YACF, but vegan fitness would be my preference for that great honour.

What's a bike journal club ?
Is it different to a training log ?

Yeah it's a very basic training log (mileage and climb only - no ave speed), all in-putted as an individual but we can hold hands as a club too

I just joined this one for mountain bikers on Single Track World forum.

Is that the sort of thing you had in mind ?

I'll happily post my miles if others are interested and you start one (we won't be overtaking the mighty YACF for a while though :)

Thanks for the offer, but I seem to be having trouble with that site.
I started out by uploading three rides. They appeared next to my name, but not on the STW page, so I was last on 0km.
I asked a question on there and before I got an answer, they appeared on the list and I moved up to 3rd.
I then started the VF challenge and got the same problem. The rides were in my profile, but not on the VF challenge table.
I deleted and re uploaded them.
All three appeared on the VF table, two appeared on the STW table.
Without me doing anything else, the missing one one appeared on STW, the three on VF disappeared.

I don't like the way it defaults to full public view either.
I split my ride in to three as I started from home and ended up at Mrs BGW's house.
I'm happy to share the group ride route, but I never share maps that show someone's home address.
I had to upload the route, then set the privacy level afterwards.

I'll persevere if everyone else likes it, but maybe it would be best to see if anyone's got suggestions for a different site first. This is the only one I've looked at.

There is an actual site called bikejournal http://www.bikejournal.com/ that I think GYJon is referring to. I've not got a login yet so don't know what it's like.

Registered with endomondo and logged turbo 9 miles easy enough but it doesn't show me BGWs miles.

I also registered with bikejournal and had a look round and logged a turbo effort, it lets you register various bikes and wether a turbo or proper ride and had loads of bells and whistles (we're supposed to have bells anyway in the UK aren't we). Looks good and easy to use to me though there's a bit of an inquisition to register. Out of the 2 I prefer bikejournal but not really fussed.

The only bikejournal vegan club seems to be Vegan Straight Edge who didn't appear to log ANY miles at all for 2010 so hopefully that's not us  Maybe we should have a presence there just to clear our good name :)

I've just made a veganfitness.net club at bike journal, the URL should be:

http://www.bikejournal.com/club.asp?ClubID={C8BF7D68-9415-4A4F-8614-4411BBD06AA5}

I like bike journal as it allows altitude details of my rides to be added as I like hilly (for UK, not NZ or US) rides. I've joined endomondo too but it doesn't seem to want to confirm my membership so I'll explore another time.

I had more trouble with Endomondo last night trying to get my commute to show.
I think having two challenges in the go at once confused it, so I deleted the VF one.
Sorry to those who had signed up.
There was only one ride showing on there anyway, and that was on rollers, so it doesn't count. :P

I'm on BikeJournal now. http://www.bikejournal.com/journal.asp? ... eganGraham
I'm on Fetcheveryone too. http://www.fetcheveryone.com/userprofil ... totaltab=B

200 already? I'm waiting until Feb to feel that tired, you must be aiming for PBP?

If BGWs miles are all off-road then he's the moral leader (on a vegan forum this should normally lead to Spartacus-style "No! I'm the moral leader!" replies), does any bike training log take into account this sort of thing? It would be a complicated formula for sure.
