ETA costs four people sharing a car from Wien to Stockolm and back 100 euros each. IF we get four people to rally at Wien. (and if we can use sonic's car, the ski & board equipment takes up a LOT of space).

One thing to consider before bringing a car from southern Europe is that it's required by law to use winter tires here in Sweden during the winter, and even if it wasn't you don't want to conquer winter roads up here with regular summer tires.

I´m totally into it! Just don´t have much money...and don´t have ski clothes etc. I need to rent everything.

Anyway, I took a quick look at places in the Poland area.
For a house, its about 100 Euro per person per week. Skipass is also about 100 Euro.

Im a bit tight timewise right now so it will take a few days till I can find out something more solid.

Those who've had ski trips before know why people go by train, bus or car. The equipment alone is huuuge and 20+ kilos. Try smuggling that in as personal baggage on an el cheapo air flight.

Liat I've got lots of spare stuff.. snowboard boots, gloves, pants, etc... The problem is packing and carrying around all that shit.

Sonic of course I wouldn't make YOU drive 20 hours. We'd split the driving ;-D

Fredrikw... I'm shocked that there are still drivers outside the balkans who think that driving in winter on summer tyres makes any sense. It's suicide, plane and simple. Michelin Alpin for the win!

Most airlines have flat rate costs on skiing equipment. In my experience the cheapo ones are often better at exactly outlining the costs for special luggage than the bigger ones.

If you don't want to bring your equiptment you can also rent everything at the location. Browsed quicky at the Vemdalen homepage and found the following prices for renting equiptment:

Snowboard 1 day: 28 euros 1 week: 95 euros

Alpine Skiing 1 day: 26 euros 1 week: 84 euros

Cross country skiing 1 day: 15 euros 1 week: 49 euros

Multi rent (all three types, where you are free to change between the different types as much you want during the time of rent) 1 day: 34 euros 1 week: 110 euros

There can also be snow racer riding

and casual sitting in a snow cave with hot chocolate.


And of course there can be snow mobile outings, however, these tend to cost a bit more.

not entirely true, in Vemdalen it's free but in Funäsdalen it costs €25 for one week.

ok then, another possibility.

shouldn't we decide where (country: is everybody ok with sweden?) and when (dates: people have jobs and exams) first?
then will see how many people are interested and get organized for the trip and the rest.
