The world's first negative calorie drink...

Postby Linnéa76 » Wed Oct 13, 2010 10:53 am

...is what Celsius is promoted as. Do we believe this? I tend to assume it's BS but would they dare make these claims if there was no truth in it?

"In independent clinical trial was conducted by the Ohio Research Group to validate the calorie burning effects of Celsius. The results were presented on June 18th, 2005 at the International Society of Sports Nutrition Conference in New Orleans. The clinical research proved that drinking one 12-ounce bottle of Celsius increases metabolism on average 12 percent for up to a 3 hour period."

This supposedly equals 100 kcal. Does that mean that if you drank too many, you'd fade away and die..?

Two guys were promoting the drink at the gym, giving out samples and talking about how it's proven to burn calories.
I told them I was more interested in bulking at the moment, causing a calvalcade of facial expressions:  :? :o
Guess they don't get that a lot from women...

Data-U-Like.

The main criticism I'd have is that the error bars are quite large/overlapping in some cases, but it does seem legit. If they are scammers, they're dedicated ones. Seems to be green tea and ginger at play.

We have a version of this in the States:

The devils of past religions have always, at least in part, had animal characteristics, evidence of man's constant need to deny that he too is an animal, for to do so would serve a mighty blow to his impoverished ego. -Anton LaVey

Or you could just drink a mug of strong coffee. That probably give a similar increase to your metabolism.

As soon as I saw the thread title I thought 'caffeinated sugar free drink'.

Why the hell anyone would want to drink that, I don't know.

isn't it much cheaper to simply cut 100kcal from your daily intake? it's not like it's burning off the amount of a bag of crisps or something like that, 100kcal corresponds to a banana...

It just screams 'silly (mostly) women who'll jump on any bandwagon to lose weight'. It's amazing what some of the things my friends have tried to lose weight, despite me screaming at them just to eat sensibly and exercise. I had the last laugh when after 2 months of them starving themselves and actually gaining weight, I walked in having lost over a stone and being really, really toned.
Please check out my blog, and my latest ramblings on milk, soap and glory and animal testing, Thanks!

that enviga shit is dank! it tastes like soda! I think I had peach! but I don't think people should drink those things everyday. The cans themselves remind me of a laxative....... :?
