Don't panic!!! It seems that we can eat fresh figs (which are generally from cultivars which don't need pollination) but not dried figs which are from cultivars which do need pollination...

Oh geez....I wish I hadn't read that thread....it sounds too much like the absurd discussions that go on in 30bad. I was TOTALLY kidding when I said figs weren't vegan. I really don't find this worthy of going into the philosophical specifics.

But really, this is wild. After reading that first link, I'm blown away. It's a strange/fascinating relationship between plants and animals.

That's interesting. It seems after reading this article that veganism might be a concept based on the extent of awareness.
This article may illustrate an interesting question to vegans. Without getting too absurd like questioning living microbes but really how far do we take awareness. On earth I am a parasite and I seek out living food to consume. The burden of logic or the burden of nature?
