protein/health shakes

Postby media_mute » Thu Aug 12, 2010 11:20 am

hi guys

I did a search but am still pretty confused, I used to have a soy based protein/vitamin/stuff shake in the morning

I'd add nuts, flax oil and a couple of fruit with a tea spoon or two of the shake- it was in powdered form

regrettably, a lot of stuff has bee pollen in it, can anyone please recommend an alternative?

cheers and thanks

What is available normally depends where you live. Where abouts do you stay?

Also depend on what your goals etc are and if you want it to taste nice.

hi, I'm in London- there's a lot of stuff about but it's just not vegan...

I'd like some vitamins, protein and whatever else is going really, don't eat enough or quite manage to get enough calories

cheers

Check out myprotein.co.uk, they are probably the best value for basically anything you want to put in a shake. All items that are vegan have a little green V on them.

Avoid the high street shops they all peddle unvegan expensive crap.

For a multi-vitamin you can't go wrong with Veg1. Lots of websites sell it.

You need to check out the bulkers corner then -> viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4518

Easiest option is to get H&B soya proteins, watch out for egg in them! Check out this thread -> viewtopic.php?f=1&t=21526

If you want to make up your own calorific "Death Shake" get some pea protein from myprotein and just blend anything you can with it until it tastes drinkable.

In the morning I normally have 1 banana, 1 peach (or whatever is cheap at aldi), 1 scoop protein, 1 scoop oats, 1 scoop flaxseed, tablespoon peanut butter. It doesnt taste that great but goes down without me gagging.

use fortified soya milk = vitamines, protein, calories

add protein powder of your choice = more protein and calories

add nice juice, such as red grape juice = more vits, anti-oxidants and all that good stuff

A teaspoon or two is nothing.

And if you mix it with lots of other stuff the total protein content as an energy percent of the whole meal may be quite low anyway.

And it should be easy to find proteins with no bee pollen unless you pay a lot for the products =P

Buy at some other place.

I pay 1890 SEK / 20 kg bag. That's like 5$/lbs.
