The storm is already upon you.

Plan is to deadlift tomorrow, nothing too serious. Then Friday afternoon have a long squat session. Not sure whether to max out without wraps or start to experiment. Perhaps experimentation is a better use of the half day at work.

Dammit guys, has nobody nailed the 500lbs squat yet?

I've heard our brothers over at VBB have entered the race and are on the cusp of victory.

Let these videos serve as a RALLYING CRY! VF needs you in the battle against the dark side! Get SQUATTING!

I thought you would have nailed it by now. Triple with 205 is impressive.

Long way from triple 205 to 227.5 though. Even a 1RM calculator only gives 217, and normally those overestimate what I'll manage.

Maybe the wraps I bought from http://www.strengthshop.co.uk (that's http://www.strengthshop.co.uk ) will help. If the elbow sleeves I bought from http://www.strengthshop.co.uk arrive in time for Friday's session then we'll be edging our way towards 500lbs.

challenge has been laid!

who can do a slight knee bend with the most weight!

my pb is 380kg on yoke.

meanwhile, squatting, now thats a different story... (knee still a bit tender so no back squat updates...)

I have these videos bookmarked, it really takes no time at all :)

I did just have a quick check for most embarrassing video of me on the internet - it's probably that Edinburgh Vegan Strength Gathering video where I struggle to move the yoke or press the wooden log. Bizarrely both lifts might have benefitted from doing heavy quarter squats :D

No videos of the farmers at the German Vegan Strength Gathering 2008?

Logging singles at 200kg and 210kg yesterday.

Suddenly the 500lb goal seems further away though, I had a complete failure experimenting with the wraps. Think I'll try going without for now, at least until I can get a demonstration.

Maybe I should save them for bench pbs instead :D

This is the best video I've found - goes through different ways of wrapping and the pros and cons of each:
