the price of being a supportive friend. next time tell him sayonara and hit those hills hard!!!

133 miles of unadulterated sunny cycling round the hilly cotswolds. I think this is my longest bike ride ...

Fun times!! And don't worry, you'll be riding much longer soon ;) How'd your body hold up?

Cheers guys :-) It's 6 weeks till the DIM ... I feel pretty damn prepared but a few more weeks of long rides (& night time rides) will only go to help. The body is holding up fine ... I can feel that I am stronger in every regard, at the end of the 133 I was a bit tired, but could have easily gone for a run. It's been quite tricky putting in big weekends and then trying to do the normal weekly stuff. I kind of need Monday and sometimes Tuesday to let the body recover, and then my week is all kind of backed up. Fortunately I seem to be judging it all OK at the moment because I've had zero niggles, strains or anything (he says tempting fate enormously!!!). Long may that continue!

Just found out yesterday that a night time ride I entered is this weekend (got the date totally wrong) .. so its 100 miles through the night for me tomorrow :?

Good luck on your night ride and on the DIM. I am still amazed that you're doing a double.

Thanks :-) - I know, I've become a bit casual about it all because I've been training for it for so long. Sometimes I need a normal conversation with someone who doesn't do much exercise to put it all in perspective and realise that it's quite a long way!

Fri
50 min Turbo (out in the heat of middle of day)
5 mile run (started great but was clearly dehydrated and kind of crawled him feeling dizzy!)

I think I cooked myself a bit today ... oooooops!

Sat
10 mile run in dirty heat ... came home looking like I'd had a shower again..

Sat / Sun
102 mile night ride - really good ride. Started at 10pm in Canterbury and rode with 7 guys I've never met before (really mini sportive). I was quite surprised that I didn't get tired at all and it was such a nice day - that it was still warm all night. We rode slower than I would have liked because one of the guys was suffering a bit, but that meant it was more of a social / fun / different ride rather than a balls out 100 in the dark! Perfect :-) and fills me with confidence for the DIM.
