I want to get into dehydrating food, because I eat a lot of dehydrator fruit and want to make my own seed crackers. Now, I have two options in mind-
I can get this electric one from Ronco http://www.s2buy.com/Ronco-FD1005WHGEN-5-Tray-Electric-Food-Dehydrator-White.html that dries the food in a couple of days. (I have a friend who uses something similar so I know it works well and familiar with the taste).
I can also go for Nesco's digital thermostat http://www.s2buy.com/Nesco-American-Harvest-Gardenmaster-Digital-Food-Dehydrator-Jerky-Maker.html that does the work in a few hours. The problem here is that I never tried it myself.
I don't mind spending a little more if I can get mileage out of the engine. Anyone knows this model by Nesco?
Can anyone who used a digital food dehydrator tell if shortening the process changes the taste of the fruit?
Also, does it effect the nutritional values if it works faster?
