Tour of Wessex 330 miles in 3 days

Just thought I'd give a shout out to an event I did at the weekend which was brilliant.

It's a 3 day sportif in South West UK. You do roughly 110 miles each day (180 km) going out on different routes round Somerset, Dorset etc. You can camp at the HQ which we did, and there's breakfast, massages, great food at the checkpoints (yes even some vegan food) ... Oh and a gruelling 24,000 ft of climbing (7k on day 1 and 2, 10k on day 3)

You get do some killer hills including Cheddar Gorge and the infamous Porlock hill which climbs 400m in less than 2 miles (with 1:4 gradients). There were lots of club cyclists drafting their way to fast times and loads of 'casual' road cyclists too. Not for the faint-hearted, but definitely a great event for anyone looking at doing some longer or multi-day sportives.

I did the Bristol Bike Fest last Saturday and one of the other riders asked me if I was on the Tour of Wessex as he recognised the Vegan Cyclists kit. :D

Good work on getting the kit out there and recognised, skoptic. 8)

Cheers BGW ... nice to know that we're getting noticed :-)

I chatted to quite a few people about it that weekend (usually dispelling myths that we can't do any sport or quite what being vegan means).

I'll be adding a rain jacket to your next clothes order so I can wear it proud it any weather, not just the sunshine :D
